the biggest thing is FWD, but seriously, if maximas were RWD, it would be really really nice.

For me on my 03 6spd TE, its the jerk when letting off the gas, the horrible turning radius (Worse than my access cab Tundra) and my stupid drivers window that the auto up bounces back down. And last just like my 4th Gen Maxima, my cd player never works. But the car starts and runs and neither Maxima has ever left me stranded.

There's a solution for fixing the auto window up problem, it's actually a fairly easy one too. Do a search on here, I know there was a write up somewhere.

I have a 2003 SE TE slushbox. I had a 3rd gen for 8 years prior.

Here are my gripes about the car:

- Excessive torque steer
- Non-independent rear suspension
- Brutal turning radius (makes me look like a bad driver in tight lots!)
- Excessive wind noise and rattles
- A Bose sound system that doesn't work properly half the time
- Too much wheel-to-fender gap
- No stock Navigation System option in Canada
- Premature surface rust
- Only 4 Speed on the Automatic transmission

But what I do like are the used prices, the heated steering wheel, and the fiery engine.

The frikkin' semi turn radius!

When I'm attempting to park I use reverse as much as drive. The key is planning waaaay in advance. You see a possible parking spot...begin to turn wherever you are at this point in time(tword the parking spot). Then work the outer most angle that can be done without hitting something. Hit reverse, forward, reverse, and finally forward again while praying some old lady has not beat you to the spot.

I hate the way my 00 Max acts in cold weather (below 40F). When I first start it up, it jerks and acts like it wants to die when I come to a stop sign. It quits after it's on about 5 minutes or so.

No rust here in Texas and mine doesn't have the factory Bose (the base unit is made by Clarion and actually sounds pretty good although a bit soft on bass) but the rest of your list is about right.

There is an easy fix to the wind noise problem, going to take care of it next day I have some time off.

http://www.shiftice.com/window_wind_noise.html

An extra gear in the automatic would have been nice, maybe get a little better acceleration going into 3rd than now and a bit deeper overdrive for better freeway mileage.

Oh well, still a pretty good performance bargain overall and a lot better car than my Mazda 626 was.

The Bose headunit from my 2000 GLE says "Clarion" right on the back of it. I hate Clarion.

1. A/C controls aren't lit!
2. No front dome light
3. Head rests too short
4. Driving position - sit on the floor w/ legs and arms straight out. If I scoot up I can't work the clutch smoothly.
5. Stick shift not the best I've used.
6. No auto headlights.
7. Steering is too boosted, wheel is huge.

Nitpicks mostly. I love the car.

Check your bulbs and try to replace them. A/C controls should light up unless the bulbs are out (which is a common problem).

1. Trunk mat sinks
2. Bose system doesn't work like it should
3. When its extremely cold, it needs to be warmed up all the way for it to drive correctly, and it idles awkward in drive if it isn't all the way warmed up. It bounces making the car jerk lol. Maybe it's just anxious at the light?
4. Turning radius.

I shouldn't be reading this. I just spent the last 4 months looking for a 5th 0r 5.5 gen. Ended up with a 02 SE 6 SP MT from an Org member. And he took car of it like it was one of his kids.

So far I really like the car. Maybe not the School bus shifter (And I'll fix that), but just about everything else about the car.

I needed something I could haul the kids around in and still fell like I wasn't a really old guy.

Torque steer, hey that's better than an asthmatic Camry.

Maybe I have low expectations, but I like the car and I like this Forum.

things that annoy me about my 5.5 gen

-when my radios off i can actually hear at least 10 diff things rattling / clinking from the hood to the trunk.
-you can be making 20mpg but as soon as you punch it the gas dropsssss
-the foglights arent HID
-half the lights on the climate dont light up
-no stock supercharger. even the buick offers a super charger on the regal wtf?!!?!
-no full size spare
-when stock, the engine and exhaust sound too quiet and wimpy
-loosing steering wheel controls w/ after market radio
-no curtain on the rear window or side rear
-wish it was rear wheel drive
-literal dual exhaust not the fake two pipes next to each other
-stock blueish tint on the windows like bmw have
-stock automatic starter
-4 the automatics to at least have tiptronic since so few were fully manual
-wider stock tires
-to have an se-r version. wtf man a pos sentra and wanna be fast 3.5 altima come in se-r but the big daddy maxima doesnt???????? those ****** f*d up. it would be awosme if they made the 5.5 with an se-r package including 3.8 L v8 supersharged 335hp i bet the 0-60 on that would be at most 5.3 sec vs. like stock 6.3 but i geus japanese engineers rather promote civics claiming to have 1000 hp and quad turbos with nitro boost and 5ft tall wings with glitter in the paint and super racing rims with super slicks on . LOL im exaggaterating.. but u all kno what im talking about.

what i like/love about it
- 5.5 looks alot like the older skyline
-keeps up with snobby kids in their dads benz and beemers
-almost never need to worry about loosing in a race except when racing an 09 maxima. i test drove one and it is RAWWWWW
-great braking (i use hawk)
good headlights
-looks aggresive evn tho its 4door
-lots of room overall
-feels safe... especially in a blizzard going 110 on the highway (thank god for blizzaks)
-titanium coated gears on the trans. adds that extra toughness
-its around 7 years old but still keeps up with 98% of any 4 door sedan i come across
-warms up in ten minutes in -10 F weather
-its been my realistic dream car ever since it came out. ive had mine for a year and its better than all my friends cars. hehehhehe
