I don't see why it wouldn't. Open up your upper intake box and if it has the brass piece then you're set to go.

The black box which the hoses connect to is the resonator; the accordian section behind it is also probably restrictive.

Here is the "Powered by Home Depot" mod that I'll probably do soon.

but isnt a good part about buying the expensive intake is that it comes w/ a good k&n filter? i wouldnt think that the cheapo filters flow as much air, are as good of quality, etc...example: k&n drop in filters are about 4 times more expensive than regular drop in ones, but "supposedly" flow more air, give u about 1-2 horses....

Well, I cant speak on facts here becase i havent tested the two but...

I have a K&N on the LT1 in our boat and one in our Suburban. If anything the $15 no-name filter I have looks higher quality then the K&N's. As to filtering performance, the actual filter material looks exactly the same except the K&N's are dark red and mine was silver before I oiled it.

The other side is that if you leave the lower half of the air box in place, it will support the weight of the filter and provide SOME cold air from the stock pipe. I did this and have not had a problem with the filter leaking or whatever.

Not unless you started the car with the sensors unplugged. Wow this is an old thread.

Why does everyone say they are making gaskets? What are those, how are they made and is it neccesary?

the brass looking piece doesnt seal completely with the intake cone.... thats why some people use duct tape or something ( gaskets ) to seal it.... i used electrical tape to make sure

The intake air temperature sensor? It is used by the ECU as a cross reference to check functionality of other sensors and does not affect closed loop performance, according to the FSM. It certainly won't affect your MAFS. You can leave it dangling. The IATS, that is.

I just did this with some 3A Racing generic $29.99 air filter. Brass plate is HARD to get off and I bent it up good...used a hammer to get it back in place as good as i could. Anyways, put it on, had some trouble with the screws, started the car and CEL. I forgot to hook up MAF....reset...battery off, and CEL went off. Test drove, no difference unless youre almost on the floor above 3500 which is nice. However, at around 5500+ sounds almost a little ricey. I taped up the sides so I dont think I have much of an air leak if one at all...not so sure about the sound...performance is the same.
