Nitrous dissappeared??
Nitrous dissappeared??
Ok help me out here. Maybe I'm missing something but I think my nitrous has dissappeared on me! Back in early november, I had my bottle filled up, a full 10 lbs. I put it in my car (in the trunk) and had it connected and open. Its been there ever since, and never used. Today, I finally got around to getting my pressure gauge installed on the bottle and it's only reading 200 psi of pressure! Shouldn't a full bottle have more pressure then that?? Its 51 degrees outside. I know the cold has an effect, but not this much right?

, if so it will leak out over time and you have yourself an empty bottle. If you want to be sure just weigh the bottle it should weigh roughly 16 lbs. when empty, so every pound over that is a pound of nitrous you still have.

Remember that there is only a line from the bottle to the solenoid. It is not going to be hermetically sealed. For this reason, you should always turn the valve off when not in use.

Never leave your bottle valve open. It's near impossible to have a leak proof system. I have a NOS remote bottle opener and I still turn off my bottle valve when I parked the car in the garage.
Thats actually what I suspected. I just wasn't sure if it would in fact leak out or not. I always like to keep it open, you know, in case I come up on an opportunity to use it. I haven't done any racing though so far this winter, especially with the track being closed. I'll try weighing it and see what I have left, probably have to go get it refilled. Thanks for the advice.
About how much PSI can I expect to lose per degree of temp change? Isn't it 85 degrees optimal temp?
