How much did you pay? *New car shopper*
I was just quoted about $34k OTD for a 2011 Maxima with Premium package (MSRP ~$39.6k). (although I thought it was shady that the quote sheet came back listed as sports package...)
Are there any incentives for dealers at the end of the month (and considering it's December) end of the year?
This dealer only has like 4 more Maxima's left but the 'sales manager' was adamant about ~34k being the 'lowest' price he's able to go. In fact, he underlined it 3 times and was kind of a ***** about it (wrote NO MORE under it and everything). Talk about turned off by the whole experience...I was hoping to get around $32k OTD and it would have been a simple 1 year finance too.
Also with respect to Truecar and TMV pricing - I realize those are averages but typically how much flexibility does a dealer have around the average? They said that it was already $56 under invoice...but obviously not the car cost to them but their 'dealer invoice' price.

Yessir, Tax Title License included in the $34k.
I went back a couple pages in this thread and saw people getting way better pricing back before the 2012 Maxima's were even released...not sure how they can justify selling AT that price still. =/

OR BIG OR... you said something to someone that saw jackass all over you... not to be rude but thats how some ppl see customers @ dealers.
Yes its in the nav... select dest. or route cant remember... go to places, select resturants and there is a ZAGAT selection on the right hand side of the screen. IIRC of course... lol
Walk away... He should be pushing the 2011 out the door by now if he still has some sitting in the lot. Even tho 34k is a decent price (if it is a top of the line model) he still should be giving it away at a crackhead price sort of speak for a 2011 MY.

As far as the model itself, it was a premium package but no nav so it's not really the top top of the line. That's one reason why $34k sounded so outrageous. I think I'll try shopping around the local area and seeing what else is available. What price would you consider reasonable for a premium package 2011 Maxima? I can see that we're right around the TMV or TrueCar price but even that seems high considering the incentives for the 2012's.
Thanks for the insight and I'm really REALLY hoping to join the Maxima owners club by the end of the year...only 3 days left!
Haha fair enough. Unfortunately I think we might have been too polite. The guy probably saw a couple + their son and decided it was an opportunity.

As far as incentives I think nissan is giving a $3500 cash back and/or 0.whatever% finance depending on credit. Now the catch to all this is work the price of the car FIRST! no trade in talks, no credit talks, get the car to the price YOU want. THEN everything else comes to play.
Why do you want a 2011 vs not getting a 2012? Both are the same with the exception of the 2012 small changes.. but both are priced the same, nissan didnt raise the prices on the 2012. Or are you trying to get the best deal possible and if so then I see the 2011 being the best option.

I was hoping that since it's the end of the year, there might be more drive to sell these 2011's. I personally can hold off a couple more months but I was hoping for some more symbolic dealer motivation to move these 2011s' before 2012 gets here.
BUUUT it is what it is...and I did take Dieseldan's advice and emailed every dealership within 30 miles about the availability of that car specifically and their willingness to sell at around $32k (including TTL). We'll see if any of them are interested soon...I'll keep you guys posted!
Thanks again esco and Dieseldan for your advice
I totally agree!!
Exactly. I didn't see a reason to buy the 2012 if there weren't any major changes other than the front grill and the tail lights. And especially if there's 'incentives' for dealers to clear the lots of 2011, I figured they'd be more willing to price aggressively to get 'em out there.

It's what I bought at the end of October and walked OTD for $30,900 (tax/title incl.) I couldn't agree more with esco115's advice. Don't make the deal unless you are completely satisfied.
Don't know if you've made a deal yet, but below is some good information on pricing for a 2011 Maxima w/premium pkg and no nav. (MSRP $38,705)

If anyone is looking to buy, use TrueCar... I work for Nissan Chantilly and we take the biggest hits.. just ask ahead what other fees they have before you go into the dealer, they may try to add "appearance package" or "VIP service"... if anyone is in the DC Metro area and is looking for a Nissan let me know
I got it off an auction supposedly it had water damage. Car was perfect with exception of the rug being wet a lil bit, took the carpet out, sun dried it, perfect
. Everything works perfect, no odor of dampness too.
$40,350 sticker price almost saved half lol

Got me a certified used 09 Maxima SV w/sport and tech package for $23,900 before tax lic etc @ a local Nissan dealer. It had 54,000 mi but it had the package I wanted. Puchased the gap and it is covered for up to 120,000mi/8yrs.
I paid ~ $28k for my 2011 SV w/ Premium Package
Check out Truecar.com. They will let you build the car your looking for and then print out a guaranteed certificate that dealers will honor.
