mike-i am dropping my stuff by on monday or tuesday.

He quoted my $70 for everything.

I hope that I can reinstall everything next weekend.

btw-he said that he could do ceramic coating for around $150 for our shorty headers and y-pipe.

I used a big @ss channel lock to get the EGR tube off. I didn't have the firewall to deal with though.

Yeah. It has a collar with the threading on it. Its a flange fitting kinda like brake lines except an @ss load bigger.

why did you get itake piping ceramic coating. Does it keep the air inside cooler than the temp of the engine bay?

Yep.....Just like heat wrap - but much better looking.

In honesty, however, the temp difference is probably minimal - mostly it just looks sweet.

But then again - every tiny bit helps.

I also wondered about ceramic coating the charge pipe. True, it is sitting behind the radiator and above the exhaust manifold but it is getting a bunch of cool air from around the radiator. Ian, did you happen to log before and after IAT temps? It could be a double edged sword. You could be stopping it from soaking in heat but you could also be holding it in at peak boost. What charge temps are you reading with your current boost level? I think we should compare that to others. Anybody else have logged charged temps to compare? The ambient temp doesn't really matter. I'm just looking for a ballpark. The radiator puts out no more that 200 degree air so the only way it would be gaining heat is if the exhaust was much hotter than what I'm guessing.

I never did any temp readings - but I can say that I used to notice power loss from heat soak on hot summer days and now I don't so much.

Stephen max has thermocouples everywhere. He monitors the effect of one mod versus another. he noticed that re routing the piping in front of the radiator dropped his iat a lot.

i was thinking about getting the aftercooler ceramic coated, but the guy didnt have anything that would look like Ian's chrome.

I guess i like a little show and a little go.

Thats good info Ian but how did you notice a difference on hot summer days if you just had this done? It is January.

Steve, a little go? Ha. I knew Stephen had done Iat testing but I didn't know he did that before the intercooler. I'll send him a PM to ask him for his opinion.

My bad. Then its very good info. This is why you gotta get your homepage updated. Where do you host your pics? I'd like to look through your collection.

Yes, that's right. I saw a 25-30 deg F temperature drop after routing the intake around the front of the car and away from that Devil's triangle of engine, exhaust manifold and radiator. It totally eliminated some pinging I was getting during partial throttle acceleration, and only dropped the boost pressure by about .2 psi. It's not an easy mod, though.
