99 Max SE A/C Clutch really Noisy!
So I'm guessing the bearing is shot or is it usually the whole assembly? It's only got ~220K miles on it.
So I see there's usually a complete A/C Clutch kit for most cars so I can leave the A/C compressor charged and only address the problem. Not for a 99 it seems.
Has anybody successfully replaced just the bearing only with back to normal results? How difficult leaving the compressor mounted and charged?
I'm afraid the bearing will fry and size, so if you have ideas, please post them!
Thanks!

. I recall seeing that in the past.
I haven't experienced compressor clutch failure yet.

Everything is fine except a $20 bearing (This is the one for my 1999): https://www.ackits.com/clutch-pulley...pondenso-24966
Tim at ACKits.com was a great help on the phone today!
After finding that instruction description, I am confident it can be done (room enough to do what's needed) for a small investment in tools, it's a no brainer. The compressor has never leaked and still blows erect nibbers cold. Why spend at least $600 for all the materials and components and labor. Past few years I've already spent thousands for an $800 car. I just can't keep going there.
Tim also coached me at what I'd need minimally if it had to be a replacement of the compressor. He stocks Calsonic rebuilds (rarely sees a return) for my 99 and the drier and just about everything.
Glad my plan can keep me from spending more stupid money! LOL

KP,
regarding spending thousands on an 800 car.
1. DIY as much as possible to minimize expenses.
2. The real point of what we are doing is spending perhaps a grand or two (at worst) to avoid spending ten times as much for a used Camry or Chevy.

This job can be kept at a minimum cost. Go to a shop get your ac evacuated, should cost no more then $80 then another $80 to recharge the sysytem. Takes minutes to evacuate and vaccum the system. Then take your sepertine belt off, then its literally 4 bolts for ac compressor and then its a 12mm or 10mm bolts for the lines and its out. This job should cost you around $300 at most. If you need stock ac calsonic compressor you know i keep them parts lol.

Thanks Mike!
How have you been? Staying healthy I hope!
I'm going the CHEAP route first. LOL.... But with top parts, of course:
But first, I found a company in Taiwan that makes the Cefiro A/C Clutch kit (exact one for my 99). Waiting on an answer for price shipped here. If they respond at all!
Nice work on your project there!!!!!!
