Can I use the amps from my front factory bose speakers for the speakers in the rear? I have an extra set of front amps and one of my rear amps is messed up! Sound system is all stock.

Seems like everyone (at least everyone in the wheel/tire thread) who gets larger diameter rims seems to have either aftermarket springs/struts/shocks/coilovers. Also read some comments that getting bigger rims without dropping the car would look ridiculous.
On tirerack's website, when you view the bigger rims on your car, it doesn't look so bad. Are those pics accurate? Does anybody have pics of 18 or 19" rims on a stock suspension? I thought the lower profile tires that comes with bigger rims offset the increase in wheel diameter.
So my question is pretty much is it okay to get bigger rims without a drop?

Id say 200-250, i had my buddy paint it and i just brought my bumper over and did all the labor taking the bumper off to say money for that. Its easy to take off the bumper just takes a few minutes. Just an idea you could throw at a body shop. Call some places up and ask for quotes.

If you get larger diameter wheels with a lower profile tire they will still look larger. I would definately not recommend 19's. There is already enough wheel gap from the factory and by adding a larger rim you would probably emphasize that more. I would just drop it first its much more appealing. You can do whatever you want though its your car. A lot of people get a drop first to get rid of the wheel gap and better their handling.

Save yourself now and tear what you have out. Expose the true beauty of ALLLL NAAATUURRAALL. lol

Type in wood trim or dash kits in google and gaze at the endless possibilities that will be bestowed upon you.

Get a drop first and then decide what rims to go with. Personally it looks soooo much better. $hit even the stock rims look nice with the right drop.

I mean a real one, not stickers or stuff like that. I did some google searches but was not pleased. Maybe someone has done this and has a good site.

You going to pay for it but, ****... it's real!!! Go under the select option and it'll give you the option between real and synthetic.

My noob question for the day:

I'm looking to start strictly with performance mods on my stock 03 max 6spd. I am definately going with a technosquare reflash, GAB, headers, SSIM, and tuned SAFC-II (I already have one) for the most bang for my buck, but can anybody tell me what the stock exhaust sounds like with an aftermarket header (cattman)?

I don't want to spend the money on a catback if I really don't need to, but I will not have any angry bees following me around, either. I looked in the soundclip section, but at least 90% of those links are broken, and most have catback+header anyway.

My last car was a 2004 Sentra spec V and I made the mistake of installing my header before the rest of my exhaust and ended up borrowing a family member's car in embarassment while bought an exhaust. I'd rather not make the same mistake twice.

Thanks for any advise!

If you intend to drive on public streets, the rest of us do care if you run a stretched tire.

Besides, there is a huge sticky at the top of the forum that addresses wheels and tires. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=384223

So yeah, I do know what a stretched tire is.

Stretching a tire beyond the wheel diameter they are intended for is not safe. It is more of a drift or European style (VW guys do it a lot) mod. Regardless, there is a reason tire manufacturers specify the rim width recommended for their tires.

If no one has listed exactly what you are attempting to do, that probably means no one has tried to fit the size wheels you are considering on their Maxima.

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=918896

The Tire Rack constantly place an enormous amount of effort, research, money, etc into the credibility that the industry, as well as customers bestow on us. It would deflate/defeat that reputation by stepping outside the Tire Manufacturers recommendations for given rim width specification range. Regardless of whatever the current/latest "style" happens to be. Our position will continue to be to adhere to that which the USA Tire Manufacturers Tire Specifications/recommendations are.

'03 bose replacement

I've gone through 3 defective factory Bose HUs (yes, the cut out issues), and I'm ready to move on to a better HU. Is there any way to tell if this double-din HU will fit perfectly? ...or would some modification be necessary?

Thanks, I've checked out crutchfield but none of the HUs have that sleek minimalist look that I'm searching for. ..and also, all the Double-Din HUs on crutchfield say "DO NOT FIT". I find that weird. Is double-din not a standard?

Well when i try to out fit my car to the eclipse It would tell me "DO NOT FIT" . But i have seen it on there before. I asked/chat with a customer service rep. and he told me:"It says that cause their discontinued or dont sell them anymore" You might want to hit them up tomorrow.

Have you tried the Audio Section ?

That would be an Extreme stretch. Im not trying to fit a 195/45 on a 9.5" rim. Stretching is not for a ''look" or "style" it used running the widest wheel possible and for clearance issues. Yes there are bandwagon people running stretched tires. Also in RWD it helps with the snap back you get from the sidewalls.

I have a 2000 SE 5-speed with 110K miles. I changed my MAF and new plugs a couple months ago due to a P0171 code and poor acceleration. Everything was great, ran like a new car.

Over the past week or two, the car has been idling and running a little rough when cold (and cold outside). It smoothes out after 5-10 minutes or so, but the SES light occasionally flashes during this rough time, especially at higher speeds. The light eventually goes permanent, but will still occasionally flash when riding cold/rough. Have pulled a P1320 code, but with no specific cylinder misfire codes.

After exhaustively researching the forum, I am pretty sure its the ignition coil(s). Actually, it sounds like I've been lucky getting to 110K. But before I shell out $350 for all 6, or start testing them with a DMM to see if I can isolate it, I was wondering if there are any other likely possibilities based on my symptoms?

I will admit I only use 87 octane which I am sure I'll get chastised for regardless, but let me just preface this by saying I inherited this car at 20K and I'm not really a car person (I'm a truck person at heart) so while fun, the performance doesn't really concern me enough to step up to 91/93.

Which leads me to the question of can using 87 cause misfiring? I don't think I've heard any knocking, although I admit I don't know if I'd recognize it (is it distinct, can I not miss it?) Is there anything else that may be causing the P1320?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

The bees in the can sound comes from some y-pipe applications. There are members running an after market header with a high flow cat or test pipe and a b-pipe, while leaving the stock axle back on. The b-pipe is more for sound, as it only give a hp or two iirc.

Why would you get the technosquare reflash? Have a dealer advance the timing using the consult II.

Well I was going to do the TS reflash to take full advantage of the SSIM for timing advance and raised redline. Can a consult raise the redline as well? I suppose with the SAFC tuning and advanced timing without raising the redline I probably wouldn't do the SSIM mod, I can imagine I wouldn't see much for gains from the gutted intake manifold unless I was revving higher. I'd hate to lose midrange power unless I was getting some nice topend gains. Of course I am a sucker for sound, I bet the sound from doing the SSIM is hawt in the midrange/lowend.

So if I run the cattman full headers (comes with y pipe afaik), I'd also need to get a new bpipe to get a decent sound?

FYI

Exhaust clip w/ Cattman headers, stock rear, and custom b-pipe.

switch to 91/93 then post your results after two full tanks of 91/93 octane

So you feel the use of 87 could be causing misfires and/or the P1320 general ignition code? Or do you just think it may be causing the rough ride? I just ask because I am hestiant to drive it through 2 tanks of gas if there is a misfiring cylinder, as I can't imagine that would be good for the engine?

Thanks.

what a mess

I have an 01 maxima 20th anniv, v-6 3000 5-speed. The service engine light is coming on, mechanic tells me its the code for the swirl control valve.
I have read and read spent all day on it and they all same pretty much the same thing.

My mechanic finally found a vacuum line that was just hanging around, said it was supposed to go to the airbox at the end of the intake. Some one has replaced the original intake tube and filter and all. There is no box there at all. Where is this vacuum line supposed to go now that the air box is gone. plugging the line did not work.

we plugged it, drove the mess out of it, let the ecu reset and no light, but the next time I drove it the light came back on.

Has anyone here recently received a notice from nissan regarding a recall. Two days ago i received a notice from my local dealer indicating "There is a recall or sevice campaign on your vehicle". "You should have received a letter from nissan concerning this issue". The thing is I havent received any letter from nissan. I called the dealer and they said that i need to call in a few days for confirmation. Is there any new recall that i dont know of or maybe this is just an old recall that hasn't been applied to my car? Maybe an engine recall for oil consumption
