the point it, stock cats flow pretty good these days so a "high flow" cat is pointless....unless its cheaper.

what's the tallest tire you can fit with 19' wheels on a 5th Gen (I35)?
I know the recommended tire size is 235-35-19 but can you fit a 235-40-19 or 235-45-19?
Has anyone done it? Thanks!

I'm not sure if it will fit, but changing the circumference of a tire can offset the speedometer.

I'd add that absolutely the only reason one should replace their stock cat with a high flow cat is because the stock cat NEEDS to be replaced. If you are looking for "OH MY GOD MY CAR IS SO MUCH FASTER NOW" performance gains, a high flow cat isn't it.

why do people ask a question in here, then get impatient and start a new thread
give it some time, you dont need your tires in 5 minutes.

It kind of sounds like your clutch might be slipping a little bit. How many miles do you have on it? Try mashing the gas at 20mph in 4th or 5th gear and seeing how high your RPMs fly before power actually gets to the wheels. In a car with a good clutch you should be lugging the car and the RPMs shouldn't fly.
Ummm, so my RPMs went pretty high. Seems like everything is pointing to the same cause. I'm just going to have my shop replace the rear main seals at the same time. Might as well while everything is out of the way.

I have a 00 SE 5 speed with just under 150k on it. The engine is still strong but I'm thinking about the long term. I really enjoy my car so I'm wondering how feasible it is to do an engine rebuild or swap when the time comes. I know most of you are wondering why I don't just move up to the 5.5 gen but I know my car inside and out and have done a few things that "make it mine". Is it possible to swap in a 3.5 without having to majorly rework the wiring? I'd like to get more power than stock but I don't care about overwhelming amounts of it. Are there any good rebuild kits that have part upgrades? I have done a search here but haven't found anything about this topic. Thanks for any info you can give.

Heres a disscussion about putting a VQ35DE into a 2000. CLICK HERE

VQ35 swaps are common with the 4th gen guys, and should be the same in a 5th gen.

Of course they have, and it would make no difference whether it’s 5MT or 4AT.

anyone ever have any issues with their door hinge? When I open my driver's side door it drops down a noticeable amount (maybe 1/4 or 1/8 inch). Mechanic pointed it out to me a couple weeks ago and said I should be concerned about it messing up my lock. Not sure if I should try to do this (i'm assuming I would have to take the door off, and probably apart) or have the stealership or an autobody place look at it? Just looking for advice and curious to hear if this has ever happened to anyone else's max (mines 2000 se, prob. doesn't matter in this case).

i'm unable to pull a code on the car since it is not in my possession. i am tempted to call/go to the nissan dealership and see if they know of alot of cases as the one in teh car i am looking at. there are no maintenance records with this car...the little searching that i could do SAID that it was the MAF sensor, but there is no 'bucking or hesitation' , it's just sluggish.

They're interchangeable. Only need wiring harness and clips for 02-03 headlight

If you want to go ahead and throw parts at the car, go ahead. Otherwise, it has to be diagnosed.

The symptoms you describe are very vague. When is the power loss felt? Have your mpg's suffered? I think it could be a MAF like was mentioned before

sorry i thought i posted things that were mentioned, but ive posted in other threads too. no there is not MPG lost, it looks to be on point around 27-29MPG from what i saw driving it yesterday. there is no hesitation, bucking, the car purrs like a 'kitten', as the old people say, but when you try to accelerate, theres just no kind of power...i mean, it doesnt move like a 3.0 is suppose to ya know. my brother had a 4th gen auto with the vq30...and it felt quicker than this..

maximas supposedly have 21-29mpg on factory specs, so it's about right...i imagine. i wasnt beating on it, thats for sure.

reading from that everyone diagnosis a MAF...but noone comes back and says thats what it was, with my imagination...the MAF solved it and they never needed to post about it again...i guess ill try that.

i read that i need to leave the battery unconnected for a few hours to reset after its replaced??

The MAF is a common problem, so it quite possibly is the solution to replace it. Yes, leave the negative battery terminal unplugged overnight to clear the code from the ECU.

there is no reason that you would need to start a new thread right now.
you have plenty of research (FAQs and stickies) to do before you need to start a thread.
