air intake

I just bought a 03 Maxima SE 6-speed a couple of weeks ago, since my riced out civic got totaled. I love the car an everything about it and don't really want to to to heavy of mods, but i was thinking of putting a air intake in it. My question is, is it really worth my time and money to even mess with an intake since I don't plan on doing an exhaust or super charger for a while?

Sure it's coming from that, and not the IACV directly below the TB?

Is it making noise constantly when the key is out?

I'm not familiar with the terms IACV or TB, but that is the location where i pinpointed the noise is coming from. It only makes the noise once after the key is out. I constantly hear the noise when i'm slowing down or accelerating, or putting the carkey into power mode.

Here is the noise its making www.xelicon.com/noise/Memo.m4a . The noise is not what you hear when i turn the engine on but the sheee shee shee sound before and after i start it. It's somewhat in the background.

1. there are much cheaper ways to get more power...NA 3.0s can put 250 to the wheels with the right build.
2. do those before you go FI
3. S/C kits are available, turbo would be more work and $$
4. You need to learn more about cars (and searching) before you go FI
5. why bother on an autotragic.....

1. gains will be minimal, or you could lose power with some intakes.
2. if you want pretty looks and noise, go for it. If you want power, there are other routes that are far more effective.
3. if you must have an intake, do NOT buy an Injen. Look around for a used Place Racing or Cattman, they are the only ones worth buying.

For the biggest Maxima forum on the net, you guys are sure helpful on here and quick to respond.

Ended up calling a couple dealers and confirmed the part numbers that I needed.

Definitely a different experience from what I'm used to on Nasioc.com.

As for part numbers for 2003 Maxima SE oem brake pads:

Front 41060-5Y790
Rear 44060-6Y390

And this 'no thread before 10 posts' is also super silly.

What would be the best way to sell these?

They're 18" rims off an Infinity G35 (I think). Can anyone point me to a direct model with specs?

I've had them for sale on Craig's list, but I get no legitimate offers? Any ideas?

Indeed, 18" G35 coupe wheels. Not sure of the exact years, but I know they had them in '03. Put them in the classifieds here, eBay, etc.

Wow. Was that difficult, or did you have to ask another forum on how to use the telephone?

You could have found all this information and then some if you actually looked through the forums, in the Brakes forum:

I have a question about my 2003 Maxima SE headlights. Recently I bought a pair of new headlights on Ebay. When I received the item then I found that the plug is totally different with my original one. I told to the seller, and seller responsed that the headlights to sold doesnt support HID system.
Here comes the problem. I checked other headlights with HID system on Ebay. It seems that HID system is a whole part. I just want to know if I dont want to keep that HID headlight system in my car, can I install the headlights that I bought. If i could do that, how? If not, then I am just curious why? How come there is these headlights claim are fit to 2003 Maxima? And doest 2003 Maxima SE has two diffferent standard on headlights, with HID and Non-HID?

This is emergent and thanks for you guys help a lot!

Welcome!

No, 2002-2003 all have HID and there was no option for otherwise. Can you post a link to what you have? What happened to your stock HID lights?

5th Gen Clarion & Wiring Q

Hi,

Tnx to those of you of service to this site.

I pulled out a Kenwood DDX814 that I had (someone) installed and put my Clarion PN-2281D back in to the "Bose" system. I have two Q's.

1) I have two x-tra connectors that I can't find a home for. What are they for?

2) I have an open (male) connection on the lower right of the Clarion. What is it for?

As a nb, I don't think I have rights to upload images so I uploaded a vid here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e1Po5JtbM0

Also placed the Audio portion of the EL Service Man here:
http://ferdowsi.fileave.com/5th_Gen_Maxima_Audio.pdf

I'm not really good at reading the schematics portions but thought it might be helpful.

I checked out the Forum for clues last night but didn't have any luck. If there's a thread that you know of that might be helpful or have any ideas on the Q's, it's very much appreciated. Don't wanna hose anything.

BTW- I hooked it up and everything (had the appearance) of working- AM/FM, Tape/iPod, CD player, Changer in the trunk, Vol, Audio settings.

Not sure if I can edit this.

I looked at the following threads:
* TSBs, Owners Manuals, Recalls, Repair Information, Part #s, etc
* Installation Instructions / How-To's / FAQ's / Product Reviews
* Searched on Bose (as suggested) and looked through what looked relevant out of the 250 hits.

Tnx a lot.

Tnx VQP0WER. You referring to unused cables or unused port on HU? Oddly enough, used 3 discs in the changer w/o visible issues.

Thanks again for your interest on helping me!! I found a solution to put the HID Matsu****a Ballast (non universal kit, they are OEM from 350z) I used a relay of 5 pins and is working great!! Just like OEM with the AUTO switch working...When the sun goes down my HID turn on by themselves YEAHHH!! I hope that the info can help someone to solve the same problem!!

Thanks for quick response.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000-...Q5fAccessories

Here is the Ebay link, I brought headlights exactly the same.

And my stock HID light is broken and cannot appropriately "insert" but it still works well. I just want to replace it to make my car has a nicer appearance.

One more question, as you said 2002-2003 all have HID, then why many headlights on Ebay including the ones I brought are "fit" to 2002-2003. I get confused.

That's probably because HID were waaaay too popular, (meaning "getting stolen a lot"), and many people opted to replace them with non-HID headlights to avoid being targeted by thieves.

So you mean if I dont want to keep the original HID system, I could replace them with the items I brought, right?

I think it's doable. I'm not too familiar with swaping headlight units but I believe I've read about fitment issues between the 2000-2001 and the 2002-2003 models, that have to do with gaps between the housings and the hood. I just don't remember exactly how that works and I could be wrong about that.

Edit: I'm sure there are stikies and plenty of threads covering this topic around these forums. You might want to do a search to find more concrete answers.

Thanks for your suggestion. I told the situation to my friends. They did not think I should replace the whole HID system since the system still works well. Some of them checked and said "you only have to buy a housing". I want to try and do it by myself but I dont know where I can buy a housing

Unused port on HU is either the CD changer or for steering wheel audio controls (if equipped). If not that, it could be a tie in for a navigation system. Those other connects could be car phone pre-wiring. I dont know for sure I wasn't able to trace that connector in the FSM (looks to be connector M63 on the base system)

I'm not a newbie but I have a newbie question.

I've got ES motor mounts waiting to go in. Am I correct in saying that the front of the cross member (that holds the mounts), is bolted to the radiator support bracket? Mine is rusted to all hell.
