Shift **** Replacement

I read somewhere that it is tricky to replace the shift **** for a manual transmission on a 5th gen. Can anyone suggest a good replacement to the original and any installation quirks I may need to know about? My shift boot needs to be replaced as well... Thanks!

Problem with recently installed struts...

Hello all,

I recently (2 months ago) bought an 01 max SE with 133 k and the ride was bumpy/rough so I wanted to change the struts. I am not a fan of modding or anything, I just want a clean/smooth ride. So with that said, recently about a month ago I bought 4 original OEM struts all around for the max from a seller here who claims it had only 8k on them. I got them installed along with new sway bar ends, mounts, dust boots, etc. The springs are the original ones that remained on the car. The parts were installed from a trusted person who took alot of time and car to install everything

Now my problem is, it has been abt 1 k miles on the newer struts and parts, but the ride isn't smooth, only a little bit better than original struts. I hear squeaks when going over certain bumps and I can feel the bumps greatly when going over them. I got the front end checked out by two shops and they said it looks fine. I also got an alignment a week after getting the parts/struts installed and still no difference. For minor bumps, the car is not too bad (could be smoother but is tolerable) but for major bumps (New York roads and such), I can feel it pretty hard. So I don't know what else to do.

Please advise.

Thanks

I haven't looked, but does it require you to remove anything to get to the plugs?

If you're some what mechanically inclined I'm sure you'll be fine.

I'm sure the labor is just labor hours. People have to get paid for the amount of time they spend on it.

The back 3 are the ones where the labor charges kick in.

Doesn't look too bad, but I see where all the labor hours are.

resetting it will not remove a stored code

best way to get rid of light - fix the problem

other way - delete with code reader

Thank you so much for the recommendation! I will be swinging by Autozone later today! You were right, resetting the ECU does not delete the codes...

ECU Reset - Failed Emissions Today

I took my car through emissions today after having my battery disconnected last night resetting the ECU. I failed because the following monitors were not ready:

Catalyst
Oxygen Sensor
EGR System

1.) How long will it take for these systems to be ready after the ECU reset?
2.) How will I know if they are ready?
3.) Does clearing ECU fault codes affect the readiness of these systems?

Thanks for all of your help!

Have a huge problem. I sprayed out my engine bay today and now there is a problem. It worked fine at first, but now on start up the engine revs fine but after about 10 seconds it will not. If given gas it will not rev past 1500 rpm. Its almost like a maf but i have checked and it looks fine. Plaese help!

The car is a 2002. Electric throtle body maybe. Have the car with no nevative terminal on for now drying in the sun.

Have a big car meet today and need to be there by 9.

Now after letting car warm up the ABS light comes on and a ticking noise from under the driver side dash.
Also did some trouble shooting and the maf is throwing a code but when running and unpluged the car jumps, but stayes running.
When maf is taken off and the throttel body does not open up when gas throttle is given when keys are turned.

Sorry i am posting something about seafoam... But when adding it to the gas tank, are u supposed to add it like 44k where u wait for the gas light to come on, add, then fill up? Or does it not matter when added.

I can't access the video to listen here, but if it sounds like engine noise through the speaker then you need to seperate the power wire from the signal wire. I ran mine on opposite sides of the car.

okay i will check that out but definitely try to listen to the clip because i believe it is separate already but there is no video just sound when you go to the clip. I cannot figure it out.

Does the pitch change with RPM of the engine? It sounds like engine noise to me. If so, your signal cable is getting interference from the power cables. Also, where do you have your amp grounded at?
