03 max help

I've had my 03 6mt for a year and a half with no problems. But I am just about to reach 105k and i got a couple problems all the sudden. There is a list so if you can only address one or two it'd still be appreciated.
1. I just got my driver side wheel bearing replaced for the howling and when I get it back from the shop the abs light was on and they told me it was my abs speed sensor was so brittle it broke. So i just ordered that part from Daveb and its on its way now. The shop told me if i brought the part back they'd do the labor free; is it hard to replace the front driver speed sensor?
2. So my abs light had been on for about two or three weeks and im driving home one night and the SES light comes on. So the next time i had a chance i took it to pep boys and they ran the codes. P0021- camshaft positioning sensor and timing advance bank 2. I really want to replace the sensor on my own so i wanted to know if anyone else has dealt with this and what they did. And second is it easy to get to to replace? Dave said it was on thr front of the engine under the valve cover...
3. When im driving, on the highway is when it usually happens, and i have to apply the brakes pretty moderately, it has this rumble sound coming from the rear when i hit the brakes about half way down or more.I just replaced the rear and front rotors and pads less then a year ago. I think my rear driver side caliper is ceasing? any help on that?
4. Since the howling from the bearing went away, I have noticed when i turn the music off and windows up and listen any small to moderate bumps cause this distinct little rattle type of noise, totally comin from the front. My buddy thinks it is a shot tie rod? any helpd with that?
Sorry about how long this is, but any help would be so appreciated. I love this car and want to keep her going for a while. Thanks for the help guys.

Number 5 cylinder is on the rear bank in the center. If you are standing in front of the car looking at the engine bay it is in the back, next to the firewall, in the center.

Sounds like a MAF problem. The 2,000 RPM limit is a function of the car going into limp mode with a bad MAF.

Replace the MAF sensor first. If that doesn't fix the issue look at replacing the fuel filter next.

Spark plugs should have been changed with the ignition coils so if you haven't done that go ahead and change out the plugs.

Get the code pulled for the SES light and post back on here. No ideas what could have caused it...can be as simple as your gas cap not being tight. Only way to know is pull the code and post on here.

Actually, it is the one in the right side of the rear bank (not the center), if you are standing in front of the car looking at the engine bay.

The answer for your first question is yes, as long as you are standing in front of your car.
For your second question the answer is also yes; technically, the front of the engine is where the oil filter is (same side where the belts and pulleys are). So, based on that, if you are standing in front of the engine (not the front of the car), cylinder 5 would be the one in the top left.

OK, getting two pictures here. I'm a little more prone to believing Nelsito, though (and not just cuz it's easier to swap the #5 coil if it's where I want it to be). According to the FSM and the owner's manual, the cylinders are like this:

...1 3 5
F
...2 4 6

I suppose I can replace the easy one, and if the car's still being a PITA, I can "go deep" and swap the top center.

Can i pull the codes myself? Or do I need to go to autozone and have them pull the code? Yeah I checked the gas cap first thing, too bad it wasn't something that easy.... I'll get the codes pulled post them up tomorrow.

You can pull the codes yourself, as long as you have an OBD scanner. If not, then you need to go to a place like Autozone to get them to do it for you (some other places in your area might do it for free too). Make sure to get the actual code, not just the description, when you post back.

Okay went to autozone today, The code that the guy told me is 0138. He said its something about an o2 sensor before the cat, but said he wasn't exactly sure. I really don't see how putting a muffler on the car could affect an o2 sensor..

It is an O2 sensor, right bank 1. Odd it would show up after the muffle, but double-check all of your O2 sensor connectors up at the front of the engine bay. You should see three or four of them depending on if you are cali or fed spec; cali spec with 4, and fed spec with 3. If connections are OK, then you'll have to replace that O2 sensor.

I've had my 03 6mt for a year and a half with no problems. But I am just about to reach 105k and i got a couple problems all the sudden. There is a list so if you can only address one or two it'd still be appreciated.

1. Why worry about how hard it is if the shop will take care of it for free?

2. Sorry no experience here, but I believe you will have access to the camshaft sensor if you remove the intake manifold. But it may be under the valve cover, not quite sure. Once you have the intake manifold off, getting the valve cover off (if needed is easy).

3. Only way to know if to inspect the brakes in the rear. Jack up the car, take the rear wheels off, and have someone apply the brakes and then release. See if the calipers release. Do this after you have been driving the car for a while to make sure brake system is warmed up. Since you have the wheels off do a full inspection of the rear brakes, you could just have a loose caliper bracket, or caliper. It is possible the rotor shield behind the rotor is rubbing, this has happened to a number of Maximas.

4. Rattle noise usually comes from the exhaust; either a loose bolt on a shield or the exhaust rubbing up on something. Check the exhaust shields first.

Crap. Looks like all the connections for the o2 sensors are tight.... so it looks like i'll have to replace the sensor. It seems like it couldn't be too hard, am I right?

I've heard they are really slow and searching the forums came up with a lot of......concerns. I would say you aren't out your $200, but it might taken 10 years to get what you ordered.

Nope...check into getting an O2 wrench from autozone. They should have it available to use and I think free when you purchase an O2 sensor from them.

Driver side window switch not working for front passenger side

Hi:

I have a 2002 GLE. The driver side window switch is not working for the front passenger side. It operates for other three. If I use the passenger side switch, it works.

I want to try to fix it myself. Any suggestions or instructions?

many thanks

Maybe...the only thing you can try is pulling the entire switch assembly off and cleaning it out with electrical spray cleaner. I think the switch assembly is sealed where you can't remove individual parts. Likely there is just dirt stuck in there on one of the contacts. Same issue happened in my wife's car; I just removed the switch assembly and cleaned it out with electrical spray cleaner. It still works to this day.

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE 3.0L V6 with Auto Trans, leather, bose stereo. I have an issue with the Horn. It intermittently gets stuck on while driving down the road. It also has gotten stuck on when unlocking the car. You have to hit the unlock button a bunch of times to get it to stop. Anyone know whats wrong with it?

If it is only one of the horns that is getting stuck, you might need to replace it (I'm not sure if the horns can be repaired). If you hear the sound of both horns when that happens, then the problem could be something else.

Sounds like a stuck horn relay, which should be located under the hood.

No power to fuel pump.. *2003*

My car will turn over, but it doesnt go past that. My brother came over with his test light, and there isnt any power getting to the fuel pump. I went and got a new relay switch, and switched out it with a new fuel pump. we switched it with all the relays under the hood, but still nothing, is there something we're missing?

I took the relay box cover off on the passenger front side of the car under the hood. Took the horn relay out and looked at it. Put it back in, and snapped the cap on and it started blaring the horn like it was stuck on. Armed the car with the remote and it shut off. Pushed on the top of the box around the horn relay and got nothing. Pushed on it about 2/3 way back towards the rear and it did it again. I got it to repaeat 5 times, then I took the cover off and tapped on all the relays. It is not doing it anymore. Wonder which one it was causing it?

1)PO171 system too lean bank 1 and
2)PO174 system too lean bank 2

what to those codes mean and where to go from now? the lady at advancedauto said it may be an O2 sensor problem. but I dun dink its the case...

Are both H4 and 9004 PIAA bulbs useable for the headlights? Always heard about the H4s from back in the day, just started hearing about the 9004s. Main differences?

Oh..... I don't have the manual in front of me so I'm not sure if there are two relays for the horn. If not, then it sounds like you got loose or corroded wiring in the relay box. I should be able to give you more answers when I get home from work.

A H4 and 9003 bulb are the same, but haven't heard that 9004's are interchangeable as well either...

i just bought a blue 02 se, 6 speed, i paid 3600 for it it was a previous repossesion i bought from the bank.
anyway, no c.e.l thank god, but the car exhaust wise was completly silent for around 2 weeks for so, now i hear an exhaust leak. it makes the car sound like a newer v6 mustang with pipes, you know the raspy rumble.

i was just wondering what could have caused this all of a sudden.

also, i swapped the nasty 02 tails with my buddys 00 gle tails and everything works except when i turn my headlights on the taillights dont shine with them, but the brake lights reverse lights and both blinkers work.
ive had some experience with my 01 G20 doing this, but that ended up being a fuse, could this be because the 00 blinkers are a little different in size, because im getting the 2 headlights symbol facing each other with a line in between them, could someone tell me what the problem is and how can i fix it quickest and cheapest. thanks guys

Bout to do engine swap

not really new but need suggestions on safely getting car up high enough to slide engine out. Doing this in my home garage.
Also thinking of purchasing new vq online. researched found a few but I'm always up for more suggestions.
Thanx in advance

Are there any relays or fuses other than under the hood that would cause the fuel pump not to be getting any power to the fuel pump?

Have you tested your ignition and/or control module (alarm)? How are you testing your relays and power to the pump?
