Some quick questions as I'm in a rush to get some parts before Monday and I never ordered anything aftermarket other than my y-pipe.

I'm looking to get Tokico Illuminas and Hawk performance brakes.

Can someone please let me know of a reputable - not a rip off - good place where I should order from. It can be two seperate sites or one for both items.

About the brake pads; Which exact model should I order. (Note the car is stock, rotors and all.)

About the shocks/struts; I dought any one will suggest I get any other models.

Thanks .org!

EDIT: Searched google for a while and got some high prices...Help would be appreciated.

Hey Guys,

Quick question as I can't seem to find it in my searches:

The hood of my car shakes (more than I think it should) at speeds over 100 km/h.
I would assume the latch just needs to be adjusted, but thought I'd ask before trying.

SWEET! Blehmco is still around! I used to get great ideas from him (5 years ago) when I was modding my 92SE.

I am new here and trying to buy a 2002 maxima SE from a private seller. The car drives and looks fine, it has New Struts and Motor Mounts due to engine vibration. others parts are claimed all orignial. Now comes my question: I found there are not VIN# on any of the doors, hood and trunk. Is this normal for Nissan Maxima? Any 2002 SE owner can confirm this? Thanks!!

The VIN nos are on a plat on the firewall and on the dash board on the drivers side. Ill have to ccheck where the VIN nos are on the body.

EDIT: VIN plates are only on the dashboard and the fire wall. The drivers door jamb has only the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards certification plate.

The other cars I drove before all have VIN on the original doors. So it is easy to tell the parts has been replaced or not. but I could not find VIN on any of the SE doors. Just want to confirm it is normal for maxima or not. Thanks!

But alicious is right. If it doesn't have a VIN it could be stolen. You don't want that on your back.

sorry I did not make thing clear. The car has VIN on the firewall. I just do not know why it has no VIN on the Doors and hood since the Acura I am driving has VIN on all the doors and hood, trunk. The dealer told me if no VIN on the door, means it had been replaced. So I am concern about the Maxima I am buying might be done some body work.

Can you guys confirm that it is normal for Nissan se has no VIN on each door? Thanks!

Dude you are comparing apples and oranges. I know I have not seen the vin on the doors or trunk on my car and I am the original owner. That's a lot of hand washes.

I just joined up because my mom in-law has an 02 maxima and needs the third brake light in the spoiler. I thought I would post a WTB here for it, but alas cannot. Anyone got a spare?

I also need a how-to for the rear side marker bulb replacement. I heard it requires bumper removal. I looked, really I did. Did not find.

Any help?

On every maxima I've seen, you can just pop out the sidemarker with a flathead screwdriver wrapped with a rag. It should pop out from the narrow side to the big side, then just twist the bulb holder to free it. Replace bulb, and reinstall.

I searched for Tokico Illuminas for a while and found the prices to be pretty similar everywhere. I'd say about a $20-$30 sway across all the websites I checked. Ebay is definately the cheapest, but I'm always a little leary of ordering off Ebay.

I ended up ordering them from Garage 5 Innovations in Richmond BC as the price was only slightly higher than the states and I didn't want to deal with customs and all that (since your in NY, I sure this part helps a great deal ).

i've seen many cars come and go. and I dealt with vin #s also. whether or not is's Japanese, Korean, Russian, German, American the cars always have 2 vin #s on the frame (back of the engine and driver's side door frame) and 1 on the dashboard. i think that's an unwritten law and i always match those 3 numbers when buying cars.

doors, engine hood and trunk hood also have numbers (different from vin) but they should match. if the tag is missing or different it's probably from different car.

Passenger Power Seat Problem...

The passenger side power seat in my '01 SE will not move back and forth however the seat back recline works fine so there is power going to seat. Anyone have any idea or a link they can provide to show me how to try and remedy this problem? I assume it's a loose connection?

One more question:

I been considering getting an HID conversion kit since they have dropped in price to around $150 however I am seeing some advertised for $50. Anything that I should be weary of these cheaper ones or are they all the same?

Thanks.

interior question...

i just purchased an 02 maxima se 6spd with 80k for 10800. i noticed the interior looks as if the seats were put in by a previous owner. wouldnt you think if nissan wanted to make the seats match the rest of the car they would have colored the leather on the doors. does anyone know where the seats in this car are from? i just bought it and have never seen a set like it, more curious about WHY they would have switched the seats out.

oh and i LOVE it !

Hand make it. A true cold air intake is hard to come by.

Most other intakes are considered "warm air" since it's just sucking in engine heat.

You will probably have more power with a stock air box then a warm air, IMO.

You have a leak in either the master or slave cylinders which is why you lost all your fluid fluid. Once it all leaks out you have air in there. You can pour new fluid in and pump the pedal until you can shift again. Unless you actually bleed the system it'll take quite awhiel until it get firm again. Not long after that you will probably be empty again. You need to get this fixed. This will let you continue driving until you get it fixed properly though.

I've driven and maintained manual cars since the 70's and from experience once one of the cylinders starts leaking it won't be very long until the other one starts. Replace them both, flush the old fluid out of the line and be done with that problem.

Yes it will be fine until you get another one, just take it off. Your engine bay might just be dirtier if it rains. Have you tried to replace the cheap plastic fastners yet? If the holes are still intact or a little oblonged, use a large flat washer to help hold it.

Autozone, Oreillys, stealership, etc.

They usually come in a pack for about $4-5.

You may need to take an old one off to compare sizes.
