Just wondering how much louder it would be on my 01 with a highflow cat and custom maxima headers.
I have a 3.5 L with Cattman headers, HFC and Megan OE-RS, and the drone is really bad from 2100-2400 rpm. Before the headers, it was great. Now, on long trips, I actually resort to either driving 68 mph (+get really good gas mileage) or ear plugs. ymmv

True, although I believe those are 2.25" tubing. Another option, and also my plan, is to find a 03-04 G35 sedan muffler and use that (I believe it has 2.5" tubing)

I'm sure the Maxima 87-03 are all 2" exhaust tubing.....the G35 should be 2.25"..... but the OEM will bolt straight up to the Cattman and Megan Racing Bpipe and the G35 will need fab work both on the hangar support and the tubing......The OEM FTW....I ran this setup for yrs and love it......

I think a G35 muffler would sound best, I had hotshots and a b-pipe with a stock muffler and it sounded terrible, almost like a mo-ped.

My combo was Cattman Headers, WSP Metallic cat, 2.5" Cattman Bpipe with the OEM Muffler.....It was a throaty mustang like sound with all the gurgling, and burbling during acceleration and deceleration.....and quiet as hell during driving in town or on the Freeway....A Great combo!
