"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
...which was relevant in the 1700's. No way is it even remotely applicable today. Handguns should be so heavily regulated as to be illegal for 99.9% of the public.

When you grew up in a place that put you at risk of something like this happening, you understand 100%. And like I said before, calling the proper authorities usually means you have to wait 30-45 minutes before they casually stroll up to the location like it's a joke. By that time, either all your stuff is gone with the criminals that will never be caught, or someone is gonna be lying on the ground with a bullet in them. Does it make it right? Not at all. But I'd rather lay down a criminal so other people won't have to suffer too.
Tuner, ya crazy Canuck, you don't get a vote
I am in favor of handgun control and the right for a private citizen to protect his own with whatever means necessary.
My home has been broken in to. My wife (then fiancee) and I were both home at the time, 2am. Had it not been a drunk who immediately left the premesis once he heard my wife scream...there's a good chance I would not be here posting this right now. At the time, I lived not 5 minute drive from the police precinct...took them 25 minutes to get there.
Pray tell, how would you protect yourself, your loved ones, and your property in such a scenario?
We have pepper spray and a big azz ******* knife in the house right now. Break in to my place and you'll find out if I have a gun.

I feel the need to chime in here.
As a father of an 8 month old girl, with another child on the way, I can tell you that I am completely and totally 100% for gun ownership (handgun, "assault rifle", rifle, shotgun, etc.). As a father, if someone breaks into my home I will immediately assume they mean to do me, and/or my family harm. If I am armed properly, then I am properly prepared to do my fatherly duty and protect my family by whatever means necessary. I would rather live knowing I killed someone defending my family's and my own safety then spending eternity underground because I was closed minded enough to think that guns kill people.
If I shoot and kill someone that breaks into my home, and I killed them, then I killed them. The gun doesn't fire itself and kill anyone, I pulled the trigger and forced the gun to fire.
That would be like your wife finding out that you've been watching a bunch of **** and then saying that the computer went to those sites by itself. Just sayin'.

Because rifles and shotguns are used for hunting, which is fine. But handguns are used for personal protection or aggression. Their purpose isn't to shoot game, it's to shoot people.
The second amendment wasn't written with handguns in mind. Nor was it written for assault weapons. It was written so that an armed citizenry could defend the people. (See "militia") You know, before there were State Troopers, and a National Guard, and Marines.

And yes, there are handguns that are designed for protection, as well as competition and hunting. There are also handguns that are designed to do all of that. When I had my Smith & Wesson .44 magnum, I could use it for hunting, or target shooting using .44 specials, which have half the recoil of magnums for better control. And even though it's a large frame revolver, it can be used for personal protection, but it's size isn't easy to conceal and carry.
And what's wrong with personal protection? If you take firearms away from law abiding citizens, what about criminals? They will always have access to many various types of firearms no matter what. Just look up crime statistics when England passed all of those strict gun regulation laws. Violent crimes went through the roof.
And what is the definition of an assult weapon? How is a weapon determined or classified to be an assult weapon, in your opinion? Remember, it's a non technical term, and there's no legal definition of the term "assault weapon" and even the Federal Assault Weapons Ban that Bill Clinton signed into law in 1994 only lasted 10 years. Even the ATF said that they couldn't vouch for the validity of the claims of reduced violent crime decline. Even Obama himself stated that he would not push for the reinstatement for the Assault Weapons Ban.
And another thing about guns. Over the years, many inaccuracies with them have been reported by media and political propaganda have greatly blurred the lines of firearm types and terminology. One example the media loves to use is "point blank range" which is highly innacurate in describing someone shot at close range. And that's just one example of many.
Nathan... I have two little girls.
Essential1... move somewhere safer.
cjandura... you're paranoid.
Tuner... canadian.
And everyone... it's just my opinion. Relax.
While I see where you are coming from ROC, but when you live in an area where when the proper authorities are called, they take their sweet time to get there. Your own personal handgun can be the difference between you and your family's life or the life of some scum bag criminal.
My mom has faced home invasion twice. Once when I was a toddler, and another time when I was in high school. Both times my mom was armed. The first time she had a Colt 1911 .45, and the second time she had my 20 gauge shotgun. Both times when my mom raised the weapon, they bolted out the door like an Olympic sprinter!
Your opinion doesn't matter...
Yes, you do. Cars can be stupid and dangerous, yet smart and safe. You have a greater chance of you and/or your wife and family being killed in a car accident than you do with a firearm.
Straw man arguments only work on the gullible and the simple-minded.C'mon man, you're smarter than that.
Me personally i dont own a gun, i plan too but not currently, and the city i live in is not known for having a particularly good reputuation with crime, people jsut drive through this b1tch and dont stop, but im 6'3 280 not like much of anybody is gonna step to me with their problems so its not necessary. BUT for some of my other friends that are smaller walking around the same areas.....yea you are gonna need something to keep people off you.
Moving because you live in a dangerous area? Not a solution. Especially say if you work at GM, you live in Detroit....You gonna move?
And another point, when you call the police in a hostile situation, why do you call them? because its a man with more power than the both of you because he has.....the law? No, the man has a gun, and pepper spray, and a nextel to call MORE people with pepper spray and guns and maybe even a helicopter.
I am all for everyone having the right to their opinion, but I just don't understand it sometimes. Having two little girls, you and I can see things from the same general side. What is your plan in the case someone breaks into your home?
My grandfather always taught me you can never be too prepared, and there was always a plan in place for anything and everything. In the case of a home invasion, we knew where to go, and we knew where the guns were. I started learning gun safety and I was taught how dangerous guns can be in the wrong hands or if they're not handled properly and safely. That knowledge is invaluable.
It's the same as driving a car, if you're not taught how to drive it safely, then you are behind the wheel of something extremely deadly.

FYI; A heavy flywheel can have advantages. It adds rotational inertia, which impedes changes in RPM. The advantage is it makes the engine run smoother w/better firing balance. The disadvantage is the engine won't rev up quickly with high rotational inertia. That said, once the flywheel is accelerated (light or heavy) to a constant rpm the advantage is with the heavier wheel since the higher rotational inertia equals more stored energy in rotating mass. Good for launching a vehicle without bogging the engine, since the heavy flywheel does more work than a light flywheel at takeoff.
For example; back in my 4x4 racing days we ran a 65# flywheel for that purpose. At hill-climbs & sand-drags, when that big flywheel was revved up at the line, the truck (F250) launched hard. Throwing huge roostertails of dirt w/4 32"diax24"w paddle-tires & locker diffs. The announcer at the events used to warn the audience to stand back because of it.

I have no reason to fear guns. I grew up in a family that is mostly military. My dad was military police, an uncle that was a Navy Seal, another that was a tank driver in the Army, and my grandmother's oldest brother was a Marine in WW2. My grandmother's cousin was chief of police in the town in southern Ohio where she grew up. I've also had several family members work in corrections (prisons).
I was taught at a young age the safe and proper ways to handle and respect firearms. I took a two day firearm safety class at the age of 12, and I was involved in skeet and sporting clay's when I was 13.
Fear, paranoia, and ignorance of firearms is just as dangerous as anything else in the world. Proper education of firearms is important, whether like them or not.
Here's another straw man argument for you. Would you hand over the keys to your G37 over to your daughter if she wasn't taught how to drive, and expect her to know how to drive? No, of course not. You would want her to get her learner's permit, and you would want her to study the driving handbook, and you would want to teach her and show her the proper safety lessons needed to be responsible enough to drive a car on the road. You would also probably want her to take a driver's ed class as well.
Whether or not you like guns, or are against them in certain ways, you should educate yourself on them. Go take a gun safety class. Don't be so close minded about firearms. Perhaps one of your co-workers likes to go skeet shooting. Go with him. Sit and watch and learn about it. See what it's all about.

OMG. I went outside before to finally tackle the quarter panel issue and of course the situation is worse than I thought. This is what it started out as:

BUT I started running my finger over it. Upon doing this I discover that the section on the right was cracked but still intact is movable. I pick at it a bit with my finger and what happens but the whole chunk comes right out. Even worse, it's damp underneath on the surface that was exposed. It basically seeped in the cracks and rotted out. So it went from the above picture to this. You can see the shadow that shows how deep and bad it is:

Even worse. Maddening. Upsetting. Horrible. Terrible. Driving me absolutely crazy.
I went ahead and hit it with Plastidip anyway. Just put on the third coat. It's nice that it's black so it blends in and can't be noticed from more than 6 feet away, but you can tell it's there and it's a problem. I think this is going to have to be a temporary solution. It's now large enough that I think I need to hit it with some body filler.
This is driving me absolutely crazy. This car is practically immaculate save for a few minor scratches besides this ****. All I have to say is **** the rock or whatever it was that kicked up and started this downward spiral of carnage.

What kills me is that it's not from bad weather or gradual wear. It was some stupid random event of something hitting that area on the highway, screwing it up, and making it worse from there. And of course in the worst area possible. I would rather have had a bowling ball sized hole blown in the front bumper because that's an easy swap out and replace.
The problem is PEOPLE are STUPID "much more than they are smart & safe." When a stupid gun is used by a stupid person THAT is dangerous.
I'm defending the right to LEGALLY own a gun. I choose to not own a gun (so far). But prefer the option vs. legislation denying my right to make that choice.
The fact remains that regardless of the legality of gun ownership. Crime & deaths will still be committed by illegally obtained & misused firearms.
Anyway, let's lighten up with a gun bit only William Shatner (Canadian BTW) could pull off.

Correction. Guns are stupid...So stupid that on their own they are nothing but an inanimate piece of hardware & not inherently dangerous.

Ended up going to walmart and sure enough, found 5 pads for 4 bucks :-) Comes with a handle thingy but since they're velcro type it'll work just fine with what I've got...silly me didn't even think to look at regular buffing pads and what not...

happened to the option to shut that shti down ...
