i told myself this weekend my goal was to keep this thing on the road for total 20 years. granted i only put on about 5-6k per year, to me another 4 years means:

new tires at some point (sooner than later - lightweight rims? will watch craigs for something)
new shocks/struts (coilovers?, maybe more of a want than a need)
rear calipers replaced in the last 1-2 years, but possible front bbk upgrade. who knows

I upgraded my 02 to the BBK. I notice that now my car has a heavier front during take off. Gas miles is a little lower too. As I filled up with gas yesterday, at 158 miles, it took 11.27 gallons of gas. Anyone else getting poor gas miles after Big Brake Kit upgrade? Put on 05 maxima front calipers and rotors.

23-24 here, mixed driving. I've had the A34 BBK and now the EVO BBK, neither one affected it.

A34 rotors are fairly heavy, but with the 5.5 gen, shouldn't matter.

Well, I've been easy on the right petal so far. We'll see what this tank of gas comes out to. I'll have to give an update when its all said and done. This is also 85% city driving.

That probably doesn't help, but still, you might try and do a complete tank and see what it comes out to, as in adding about 16 gallons or so, better average.

Also, http://www.racingbrake.com/NISSAN-MAXIMA-s/259.htm

I've used those, they're not much lighter but they are a bit.

As for me, yeah decided to go soft with teh BC's and went to 5f/7r, down from 15f/18r.

Ride is awesome, handling is not as cool as it was, damn you compromise!

Replaced dead MAF (19$ 6N200 - eBay life)

Deleted the intake air resonator, installed cone valve-cover breather filter

Installed MAF connector to air intake cone (eBay again)

Cleared codes (evap, damn gas cap)

So ya, 5.5s are so much more high maintenance than 4th gens, like a 35 year old woman vs a 20 year old..fml

Not in my experience, on both accounts, 20 y/o's are needy, 35 y/o are independent.
My A32 was far more wacked out at this point vs my 5.,5 gen.

Original owner of a 2000 SE with 127,500 miles. Decided to start the front suspension rebuild including new struts, bushings, sway bar end links, tie rod ends, and other parts. Car has recently moved from my wife's daily driver to mine.

Pinpointed the strange noise coming from the engine in my '00 SE. It turned out to be the alternator. I guess after 250K miles and added electrical components, the stock alternator from the factory had enough.

I swapped in a new one from autozone since I had a discount. It was a Duralast Gold. Part # DLG13284. I haven't confirmed with a multimeter, but it's supposed to put out 125 amps. Hopefully, it holds up.... another 250K miles?

I thought about not every fixing anything on it again.
I did the spark plug seal last year. It's leaking again.
I did motor mounts like 2 years ago. They're broken again.....

I recently replaced all the smaller P/S rubber hose sections with generic transmission hoses and cut my larger supply hose and installed an inline magnetic filter. That's between the reservior and the pump....

Fill motor mounts with your urethane of choice (I use window weld). I don't even remove the old rubber.

Your inbox is full so I'll ask here.

What do you rtv exactly? I just don't want to take the manifold off again fkn sucks.

Also, how do those window weld mounts feel?
I'm reading that window weld is hardness of 55a do you know the hardness of the ES ones like 90a or something like that?

Normally, just the bottom of the gasket. If it looks especially shrunken/hard, then I squirt a bead in the VC groove, too, and squish the gasket back in.
As far as the tube seals, I put a bead halfway on the top lip, halfway on the side, so when you push down the VC, it squeezes in between. Afterwards, just wipe the excess out of the tube.

General info: I clean all surfaces with brake/carb clean and shop towel. Let the RTV thicken before reinstall. Only just gently place the part down to the surface and finger snug bolts. Wait for RTV to half dry (can be 2 hrs depending on temp). Fully tighten and profit?!?!

I actually made these mounts too soft for me by accident. You can vary the amount of air in them by nozzle size (it comes out really thick and ropey, so smaller nozzle leaves some air pockets). I definitely recommend to just ooze it en masse and make them solid. Regardless, they're cheap and great. I believe 1 tube of the 3M stuff will do both mounts if you dont remove the rubber (not recommended for auto mounts) and don't build an excessively thick outside layer. I sprayed a lot of carb cleaner on them and it seems to have worked. The urethane has definitely made a permanent bond.

I have ES inserts in the other maxi and loved it. It wasn't rough at all. VQ is a smooooth engine. Inserts will give you a little vibration at idle, nothing excessive by any stretch of the imagination, to me. My spec v without balance shafts is excessive LOL

IM comes off in a few minutes after you trash the brackets to the block. With an intake, it's just a few hoses and a few bolts.

This may not be the "right" way, but it's cheap and works.

I've never seen a busted side mount, but there's been some reports on here. I would assume once the front and rear are made firm that no more wear will occur on the sides. I'm sure the only reason they fail is b/c of all the play the other two allow.
Probably safe to say that 95% of failures are front/rear.

Got my headers in finally, along with a resonated test pipe. Too raspy for me with a straight pipe, and test pipe, might go high flow cat and stock muffler with no res. we will see...

Check out my profile pics. Basically I left the small L hose underneath alone. I carefully cut off the two hoses from the water valve routing the chamber out of it all.

The shifter bushing finally showed up today. Dang O'Reilly dropped the ball on that one. Only a week and a half late
So got them put in. Wow what a difference. So tight and precise! With the bushing trashed you couldn't tell I had a short shifter bracket installed. You can now!!!!!
Oh I washed and waxed it today too

Just put on that BOP. I don't know if it's all in my head, but I felt no loss down low, in fact it feels like it gained down there. Definitely felt the power gain up top, the rpm needle spun quicker. I'll find out later if it's all in my head.
