Question Maxima S lease

Just picked up a new 2010 Maxima S with splash guards, trunk mats and first aid kit. MSRP was $31,670 and sale price on the lease (after all the rebates) was $26,600. Got it during the memorial day weekend when they were giving an additional $500 in rebates ($2,250 total rebates). Here is how the lease breaks down.

Monthly Payment: $310 (including tax)
Total due at signing: $500 (which included my first payment and plates)
39 months
12k miles a year

At first I thought I got an phenomenal deal but after reading all these posts about people getting sick deals on the SV model I'm not so sure. There are not many posts by people who have gotten the S base model. Any thoughts on the deal by people who have leased an S model recently?

You should be paying no more than 265 a month, A place near me gives the Sv for about 279/month with zero down. You should've kept shopping dude, they got you good.

$279 zero down for an SV model??? That is unheard of where I live. I know that different states have better deals than others but in Ohio/Michigan I spoke with 7 different dealers and that was the cheapest I could find. I even scanned dealer prices all over the country on their web pages and the only place that had a better deal was in NY and only by $10.

I even searched the Edmunds web page before getting the car and the cheapest SV I saw was $329 with a few thousand down. If you are getting SVs for $279 either that dealer is pulling a bait and switch or they should advertise nationally because no one in the midwest can touch that price.

$26,600 is over a $1,000 below invoice (with rebates included) and when I plug in the numbers on a lease calculator I come up with $310. At $265 that would put the Net cost of the car in the high $24,000s, which a deal I have never seen anywhere. I have seen deals on the S and SV in the high $200s but with 3k-5k down and why would I put that much money down just to lower my payment, either way its coming out of my pocket anyways...with less down it just comes out more slowly.

I don't think dealers here can give people in different regions the prices they advertise here, I will provide a link to this leasing company's website. I was offered a sport/monitor for 350 also with zero down, deals out here in New York are great right now. But they wouldn't be able to give you that price if you live in a differebt region bc the dealers in your area would lose business if you people keep buying from dealers over here.

Thanks for the quick reply. That is an awesome deal, but way below any advertised dealer price where I am from. You are right that out of state dealers will not sell to me and it seems that people in NY and FL are getting deals that no one else gets around the country.

I have used a leasing company in the past and have had a bad experience. I know that you can typically get the cars cheaper from third party leasing companies, but for me to fly out to NY and drive the car back to Ohio would not be worth it. $260 + tax put me over $280 and everyone's $0 down does not necessarily mean $0 due at signing. I have seen dealers advertise $0 down and when you look at the fine print its $1k-$2k due at signing when you take care of all their fees. So apples to apples I paid $290 pre-tax so I'm about $30 off that price. Factor in what they want due at signing I may be around the same price.

If this place is legit man its prices are amazing. Under $400 for a 328 BMW is awesome. Again thanks for the heads up, but after comparing it that way I may have overpaid by a few bucks, if at all.

If you have it and can pay for it you got a good deal. What I got was a good deal to me because I went from used to new.

Yea I know theres about 1,500 due at signing. I have 5k to play with for upfront fees. The way I see it is, don't look back dude, just enjoy the car theres nothing you could've done. Jus have fun with it and the way i see it is since they kind've did you wrong, I would just start beating on it once you break it in. Screw it, it's their car and when you give it back it's their problem.

Called 1stopleasing just to get an idea of how much money they would want down on the Maxima S and it was close to $1,800 due at signing. I only paid $500 at signing. If you divide that $1,300 difference over 39 months that adds $33.33 a month bring the lease to $292.33 plus tax, which is a couple dollars more than my pre-tax price. Thanks for giving me their number, it makes me feel better about my deal.

Its blows my mind when dealers advertise $0 down and then expect you to come to the table with close to $2k, talk about deceptive advertising. You always have to factor your total out of pocket money when comparing payments.

Yea of course the out of pocket should only be about 1200 or 1300, they are just trying to put a little extra in their pockets.

Looking to lease a Maxima S

Anyone lease a base Maxima S lately? Mind sharing how much you paid? Just want to get an idea of what kind of deals are out there. Would love the SV Sport or Premium, but cannot really afford it right now. Plus the base Maxima has practically everything I need anyways.

Most prices I'm getting quoted are $330 and higher (inclusive of tax) with 0 down. Showed five different dealers the prices people are posting for the SV and they started laughing. I am in Detroit.

I bought a 2010 black/black, tech/premium (all options) about 2 months ago for 32,000 OTD before my down payment. That included $2,000 in rebates. And I love it!

I've seen a lot of good deals similar to this and even better posted here. It's all about negotiating with the dealer and better yet, visit multiple dealers in your area. Shop as many as you can.

My payment, as said earlier, is higher than most of you guys. Its a 2010 S, and im paying 379, but only about $1000 down, but with 15,000 a year. I was upside down on a different lease, 18 months left, a truck, and they gave me a good offer. A friend of mine got a maxima, same model, at the same time, and we got the national deal at the time, which was 3,000 down, 339 a month. We worked them to allow $2,000 down. The national deals are a lot better now, its amazing.

Does anyone know if theres a website where you can find residuals for the current leases ?? I usually want the dealer to work out the deal in front of me, not just come with payment numbers

Residual is determined by the bank from what I hear.

Damn man here in New York S models can be had for less than 300 a month with zero down, just taxes and fees. Detroit really must suck, lol.

Pretty funny. For some reason, it seems that folks in the ATL have gotten some of the best deals posted here.

Seriously though, shop several different dealers. If they want your business, they'll earn it. It took me a couple of weeks of dealing with different dealers for me to get the price I wanted. I would actually call one dealer while I was sitting at the table at another dealer. Let them come down on price, don't go in and low ball them.

I got a 39/12 lease in Indiana last month on a SV Sport with Mon & First Aid Kit for $390, zero down. That's pretty close, I think. It helps that Nissan is really underwriting the lease residuals! I can't afford to bother with buying when the leases are so good..

Plus, the deal kept me from even considering any other manufacturer. No other car brand could touch a price under $600 (well enough under $400) for a similarly equipped car. Even Ford (who I've never even looked at before!) has supposedly improved their quality, and they really have a lot of features on the new Taurus. But they quoted me $600/mo on a 36/12 lease!! I'm like, 'are you serious?! this is just a Ford!'

Yea man, the other manufacturers are nuts with their prices. I'm tryin hard to get a sport with monitor, Im gonna be payin about 260 a month with 5k upfront. Alot of places up here in NY didn't wanna budge on pricing when it came to th Sport cars, one placed I found offered me a great price and hopefully withink two weeks I can finalize the deal. Othe car companies are nuts the only car that I would pay in the same range as this one is the G37, but all the other car companies are stupid, and the thing that stumps me is that there are people out there driving those overpriced Taurus' god knows I hate that damn car.Nissan Is good right now with their deals and Im very happy with it, I really cant wait to get my hands on a 7 gen.

Hey Ive been shopping around to lease a max all month,
I've contacted 10 different dealers all over my tri-state area.
I'm about to sign with sansone nissan in new jersey (I live in Staten Island).
Staten Island Nissan gave me a quote of $349 a month
not a dollar at signing for a SV with the cold weather package.
I contacted Sansone telling them that SI Nissan offered
me $335 a month with nothing at signing and they told me
they would match it. This is for 39 months and 12,000 miles a year,
and its through nissan motorgroup, not a leasing company.
So I've done a bit of negotiating and
I think that is a decent deal..before I sign any thoughts?

So you dont even have to pay for plates or taxes or anything? because if so that is a good deal.

Ya nothing at signing, I told them I don't want to pay anything
out of pocket, and they came to this price.
They said tax is included and they will take care of plates.
I actually just had them fax over the paper work to my job
I'm going to pick it up tonight after work. I got Dark Slate with
black interior. Very excited.

Drove it home last night, car is so fast compared to my previous altimia. When I went to sign, they tried to pull a fast one and tell me that there was fees I have to pay. Something like $1800, I told the fiance guy that I wasn't here to waste my time or his, that my deal was nothing at signing and if I had to pay it I wasn't going to take the car, and they decided to eat the money and give me the car, I just had to pay $335 for the first month because I was being billed for 38 months and the lease was 39, which makes sense(couldn't complain about that). So I feel I got a very good deal. Very happy! As far as the color screen, didn't make sense for me, if I was buying the car, I probably would have gotten it fully loaded, but to me an extra 20 bucks a month for a color screen just wasn't worth it.

2010 Slate Gray Charcoal leather SV with cold weather package.

$335 a month, nothing at signing just first month payment!

Hey good stuff man, yea these dealers are crazy with their moves they try to pull, its good you said no because if you you would've payed the 1800 it wouldnt've been a very good deal. I could see what you mean about the color screen but it makes the dash look alot nicer. Congratulations anyways man, enjoy the car, and if you can post up some pictures!

Not only nicer but a more rich experience with the car. I was on the same boat, thinking $20 a month extra for the monitor as pointless! However I'm glad a paid a bit extra since it's completely worth it! My .2cents worth.

Its 100% worth it IMO, its makes the dash look complete since it moves the AC contorls under the stereo controls, and the controls for the color screen are really cool and I absolutley love the **** that controls the volume and stuff under the screen.

I like the monitor package. Its a shame I didn't know anything about it, otherwise I would have gotten it.

Well since you have a 3.5s, you wouldnt've been able to get this option anyways, it's only available on 3.5SV and higher.

What should I expect to pay...

I have a '08 nissan altima s with 20k miles and I owe 7200. I have been looking at the Max SV with the sport package. I have seen some newspaper adds in San Antonio that are knocking off 7k off of any maxima on the lot. Any idea what I should expect to get for my trade in?
