Is doing this as easy as chopping the cig adapter off, stripping those wires, and then tapping them into the right cig wires behind the actual plug? anyone know which color goes with which color?

any help would rock.

You could use scotch locks, they tap the wires instead of cutting them. Easy to use and you won't loose Aux 12v option.

I'm getting a squeak every time I put in the clutch. The last few inches of travel kinda rattle. It's apparent inside the car and much more apparent when outside. It's coming from inside of the bell housing, and I believe it's the ball and socket that holds the fork thing in the clutch. I tried lubing everything up with WD40 with no luck, and I fear I'll have to take the car in to get this fixed. It'll cost an arm and a leg so while it's open I was thinking about replacing the clutch and throughout bearing. What will this cost, ballpark?

Another problem, my right front tire keeps deflating to 29psi. I pump it up and it returns to 29 every time. Looks a little low when you look at it. Any idea what this is? Bad sealing or some type of puncture (nail)?

And finally, there's a rattle in my dash that bothers the crap out of me. It seems to mostly go away when I put pressure on the hazard light. Any idea what this is and how to fix it?
Really don't wanna be obnoxious but could anybody help me out with any of this?

5th gens came standard w/ ABS, so Common sense would allow those who posess it to inspect the tire to see if there is a nail Depending on how many miles, I would say, replace the clutch anyway.

Does anyone else have an oil burning problem? Around 2800-3000 miles i start to hear a rattle under the hood which is the variable timing change. Quick fix is to add a dash of oil but Im looking for a longer term fix.

Just check the oil every 1000 miles. Cheapest and easiest solution. Nissan won't even considering doing anything under warranty unless you are going through a quart in less than 1000 miles. They even have their disclaimer in the owner's manual.... "it is normal to add some oil in between oil changes" or words to that effect.

Im pretty sure alot of us out there have built some pretty big boxes. Pre-bought/pre-made i had a 15" Kicker L7 in a ported box in my old 5.5. I also believe someoneo on this org had an 18" Sub in their 5th gen.

Also, anyone with an answer to my swirl control valve issue?

2001 Anniversary Edition - Major Problems

Long story short, my friend has a 2001 20th Anniversary Edition with 130k miles. The codes P0420 "Catalyst efficiency low-bank 1" and P0505 "The PCM has determined that a malfunction exists in the idle control system" are being thrown. He basically wants to donate the car because the front tires are losing air, his lugnut covers on the rims were stolen, and he needs an alignment (car pulls to the right most of the time).

I could get this car basically for free, and cosmetically it looks good from 10 ft. Think it is worth it to fix it up and drive or should I just sell it for a grand or two on CraigsList? I know that replacing the oxygen sensors (what I am assuming are the P0420) and the Idle Air Control Valve (P0505) are expensive repairs. Would you take it to a dealership or try and do some of the work yourself? I have hand tools and access to an Autozone to rent any proprietary tools.

2k max a/c light question

I just replaced the bose radio with a aftermarket, and the a/c contols light stopped working. I was wondering if I did not connect something right. It is a manual a/c control not electronic climate controls. I have to turn on my interior light at night to see what button I am pushing. I can bang on the thing sometimes and half of the lights will come on. Do I need to replace the light bulbs or is this a commom problem?

With some extensive reading / searching / researching on this forum, and with an FSM, you would be not to get it, if in fact it’s next to free.

If the scratches catch your fingernail, repainting is the only real option. From the pictures they appear to go right into the primer. Can't polish out paint that isn't there.

NmexMAX, yeah, it sounds like a good deal. But after thinking about new tires, O2 sensors, IACV, etc. I start to wonder. I mean the car has 130k, so it might need struts/shocks soon, right?

HELP!!

Hi,

I have been a member here for several years & use your site which is excellent for all my Nissan Maxima questions. I have yet to post any replies which does not enable me to post my question. I hope that you can help me as you all have in the past. I did search my question, before asking and am a bit confused?? I just had the bearings in my transmission replaced, they also replaced the two oxegen sensors near the front (before the main cat) (cali spec) as I was recieving p0138. I then brought car to nissan for the TSB & reflash for o2 sensors. 25 miles latter, I recieved code 0420. Brought back to nissan they said it was the front cat conv. I replaced at Midas ( I supplied the Part) and car is still not idleing correctly and fear that light will come back on. As I know that this is a Cali Cat, did I replace the correct Cat?? Car seems to have all the power, but the idle is rough. I have checked for vaccum leaks, MAF leaks, Exhaust Leaks, etc. Looking for ideas, that may help!! Thanks as always, RC

Ok, quick question. Will an 03 Infiniti I35 rearview mirror with compass work with my 2k2 max that came with just a auto-dim mirror? Thanks in advance for any help.

Almost certain it will work if the mounts are the same. I have an 03 autodim + compass mirror in my 02.
