Just to add a simple thought. if you want confort them dont go with kyb shocks. my ride is lot stiffer after putting kyb shocks (not sure if its kyd the brand. can anyone confirm?)

Question. Im gonna do a power steering fluid change soon ( specially since on a cold start today felt like the wheel hesitated) read many threads and most peoplr seem to go with mobile 1 atf ( dextron III as re.comended by the book) just wanna confirm if thats the best choice.

Yes, KYB will give you a stiffer, more firm ride than the stock struts. I reduced my tire air pressure to compensate a little.

It could be the revolution sensor in the transmission (auto trans) or maybe it is the dash gauge.

Oh no! I love the stiffer ride!!!!
Pretty sure its not the revolution sensor. It gives much different symptoms anf does not mess with the speedometer. I say his speedometer cable is bad.

Would you happen to know the part number for the speedometer cable? I can't find it.

Yeah when my transmission speed sensor or revolution sensor went bad it didnt mess with my speedometer. It was like thr car all of the sudden shifted to neutral. As far as the speedometer cable no dude...that was just the first thing that came to my mind.

Pmohr can you advice me about the power steering? i read mixed reviews about it. some say mobile 1 atf is not the best choice. some other say its better to get nissan fluid.

Go with a synthetic ATF. I am using Valvoline Maxlife as I had a QT left after a transmission fluid change. I did a complete flush (sucked old fluid out, replaced with new one, started car turned the car full lock both ways for 5 seconds each side a couple times, then sucked out fluid and added more again). Did it 3 times, then once after a week of driving. Fluid is red, no issues with steering at all even when the car sits out side in the cold weather we've been having lately here in Canada.

Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF is also good, Castrol Transmax Import Multi Vehicle, Amsoil UATF is also good. Any Dex III compatible transmission fluid is suitable replacement.

Thx everyone for yhe help. Got first part done. Fluid was def overdue for change, still somewhat red but towards marron color. Got mobile 1 syntetic atf and a 3 buck manual suckion pump from autozone lot better than a turkey baster. Got the job done with zero spills. Ill just have to change the fluid coupla more times thruout the week.

My car's throwing the PO430 code which indicates a bad cat or o2 sensor. I need to pass emissions at the end of this month so I need to get this problem fixed asap. I was planning on getting headers and just eliminating the cat altogether but that's going to cost too much.

My question is, doing getting your cats gutted resolve the problem with the code? Or will I have to get the cat changed if I don't want any codes?

No, I mean powder coating. I do a little powder coating in my free time and I'm thinking about doing my stock wheels in a matte black.

hello, as you all figured out from the questions that i've been asking is that i dont know as much about cars as everyone else on this website. yesterday i noticed some smoke from the hood when i opened it i had green coolent all over the engine, i lost probably as much as full coke can. im guessing i that some things need to be replaced. my questions is it a good idea to drive to the mechanic or the car will probably stop somewhere on the road? i can get to the mechanic monday afternoon which means that i still have to get to work somehow in the morning.

It's not a good idea but it's doable. Car stopping somewhere on the road depends on how much coolant you are loosing as you drive and/or how quick you car overheats as a result of that loss. You really need to watch that temperature gauge until you get that problem solved. Damages to an overheated engine can be costly.

Where is the coolent at on the drivers side or passenger side?our radiators have a weakness and develop a hairline crack in the plastic where its crimped to the alum section of the radiator simple fix goto the forsale section under group deal and get a new one for about $100 and change it out in 30 minutes.

I have 3 more questions to ask...

1.) how many posts do I have to have before I can create my own topics?

2.) I want to blackout my tail lights everywhere but where the red/orange and backup lights are. I know that there's a guy on here that sells them, but I emailed him a week ago and have not heard back. I just don't like the way that my tail lights look and was hoping that would make me not dislike it as much.

3.) Is there any mods that can be done to increase fuel economy? I drive about 100 miles a day for work, and anything I can do would be great!

Dont get ahead of yourself it could be something as simple as the radiator cap that went bad. I agree with everyone, most important thing is watching your temp gauge to make sure it doenst overheat. If i was you before you take it to the mechanic make sure your radiator is toped off with water or coolant and take a galon of coolant (or water) with you in case you have to pull over in your way and retop it.
My radiator had that hair likr crack. I put a radiator stop leak ( that wad before someone told me it can be bad for the engine) and it did the trick. That was about 20k miles ago.

actually its a crack in plastic strip on top of the radiator about 15 inches away from the cap. it starts leaking and steam comes out of it after the car runs for about 3 minutes

2) can always tint them yourself. Pick up some VHT Nightshade. Sold at about every auto store.

if you do that, does it still have the black / orange seperation for the turn signal?

I'm concerned about tinting them because I don't know how... does it require me taking the whole housing apart? I don't want the entire thing smoked and wouldn't it look dumb if I cut out around the actual lights? like if you look at it from an angle, it shows where the circle was cut?

I was going to attempt the same thing whether it be through tint or paint. I did find 01 SE tails and decided to purchase them instead.

The tailing tinting will need special attention, a steady hand or someone with experience(which can mean more $). I have also found that people will get pulled over for doing a full tail light tint.

Best option is to search for '00-01 SE tails via this website, another site, some place like ebay or you can call local junkyards and hope to get lucky.

The tinting and painting maybe cheaper, especially if you do this yourself, but for the best results- uck up and pay for the 00-01 SE tails.

Im to thinking about getting some se tail lights. The ones i got now are called alteza black or something like that. They tight and are similar to the se with the black outline however difference is the light itself is white. So i have to use red bulbs for my brake light. problem is that they dont sell them anywhere around here so what i have to do id spray paint regular white bulbs...and respray them periodically since they fade overtime. i used some good high temp paints but still. already got pulled over once because my light " were not red enough"

The reason they don't show in interchange is the harness being different. If you get the tail light subharness as well, no problem.

it's starting to sound like it's more hassle than it's worth... where would I get the sub harness at?
