That being said, that's the route I'd go, not bothering with getting electric mounts at all.
I have disconnected my failing mounts and do notice the increased vibration, though not that bad. I assume they are in the hard state although I didn't rev the engine. Just wanted to see if anyone has experience with the aftermarket electronics.

Depends on where the squeak is coming from. If it's the clutch pedal pivot or the rubber seal thing (I remember my Datsun doing that, but my Max is an auto), some silicone spray lube will quieten that right down. Just be sure not to apply the lubricant to the part of the pedal that touches the foot - it's downright comical when noobs coat their pedals with armor-all (until someone gets hurt).

i have a 2003 maxima 6 speed manual, and i have 2 problems, i have read on here alot and i fixed a few problems but i cannot find these 2 issues im still having.

1st problem, when im driving and taking off i feel the shifter **** moving around, like when i engage the clutch the shift **** moves around in any gear it physically moves like half an inch front to back only, in order to solve this problem i replaced front and rear mounts with ES poly mounts, i replaced drivers side mount with a beck arnley mount and i replaced the transmission (driver side) mount with a OEM nissan mount straight from the dealer cause i couldnt find it anywhere else. i also replaced the shifter cable bushings from Energy Suspension aswell. and i still have this problem !!!

2nd problem is my clutch sometimes losses pressure and the pedal comes up but i feel no pressure on it, if i pump several times the pressure will build back up, sometimes the engagment point drops very low like 1 inch from the floor, i already replaced the clutch slave cylinder and i still have this problem

i need these 2 problems fixed so i can continue my modding

I have an 01 maxima with stock headlights and i want to replace them with these http://tinyurl.com/7255ryb But will it require me to do any special wiring or an hid kit? Or can I just plug these new ones right in? I want them to look like princedrew00's headlights as can be seen in this post "http://tinyurl.com/7e4v8xq" it would be much appreciated if someone could tell me exactly what i would have to do

The oil burning issue cannot be remedied without an engine swap. Look at it like this, You only have to change the oil filter during an oil change because you are constantly adding oil lol. As for the code. If its an o2 code then you need to replace it first. Your cat should not be at the end of its life quite yet.

Problem 1 can be fixed by changing your linkage and your shifter bushings. You probably just have some extra play. Its not hurting anything and should be a simple fix

Problem 2 is probably the result of air being in the system. Air compresses and thus makes the pedal feel spongy.

Would the brakes from a 7th gen max fit my 5.5...anything from it?

Also is it a dumb idea to mix brakes...IE: I might be able to get g35 rears and 350z front brakes....or g rotors on 6th gen calipers/ z calipers etc etc

OK I bought LED blinkers/corners. I knew I needed a resistor so I bought some.

This is what came...

It has two cords coming out of each end. Does anyone know how to install this?

Also, would this fit my 5th gen Maxima?

If you put the resistors in on the blinker lamps, you don't need the flasher.

The resistors are interesting. Normally there is only one wire coming off of each end. One side of the resistor gets connected to ground and in this case, both wires. It doesn't matter which side of the resistor. The other end of the resistor connects on the wire that powers the led lamp.

So I just put both wires together and act like it is one wire?

Basically most of the engine has to be rebuilt. And unless you can do the labor yourself it's cheaper to swap out a newer engine.

So after about 6 weeks of heck and new fuel pump, new idle air valve, new MAF, and new oxygen sensor, everything is great. Depending on where I would have taken the car to and who I had dealt with, I would still be chasing codes, non-existant vacuum leaks, bad transmission, etc. However, all of it was indirectly or directly related to faulty ECU and bad motor mounts. By the way, the ECU with A56-Q79 ZA0 stamped on it and ECU with A56-R63 ZE7 stamped on it were equivalent for 2001 Maxima automatic, no traction control. If anyone has a problem with car running like crap, lots of codes, bad RPM, cannot bring the RPM into spec, etc., look at the ECU and motor mounts. Thanks for lots of good information on this site.
So you are saying that the part number stamped on ECU doesn't matter.??? I am having same problem as you. what do you suggest me. My mechanic wants me to get a ECU he found me in junkyard for $550 and he's gonna charge me $350 for programming and errything else.

So I have a pretty cut and dry question. Do sway bars (or strut bar, idk what to call it) work or do anything really significant?

Well, which one? Sway bars and strut tower bars are two completely separate items.

Yes, they both work. Whether or not you consider it 'significant' depends on how you drive.

Ok, I'm having difficulty removing the spare tire from my trunk. What kind of a tool should I use? I'm a real n00b at this sort of thing lol.

Gavin, I would try to remove that white piece first, it shouldn't be to hard to unscrew. Then the tire can easily be removed. If not I would take a crowbar to it. Don't know how safe it would be to drive on that spare the way it looks.

That round white plastic disk in the center is esentially a nut. It screws off like a regular nut. Turn it counter clockwise. If it is super tight, let the air out of the tire. Someone may have put the tire in when there was no air in it, screwed it down and then inflated the tire. Then fix your leaking tail lights.

If it's too tight to turn by hand, you can use a T50 Torx bit to remove it.

Use a scan tool with the ability to set the base timing. CONSULT, Solus or higher (don't think the Ethos can), or something like UpRev's Cipher.

Hi, I have an '01 AE manual.... I've used the search function.... two questions:
1- where is the fuel filter located? Dealership says it's in the tank, but around here ppl say between/under the two rear seats. ?
2- does this year/make/model have an in-cabin air filter? Dealership says this model doesn't have one, but around here ppl say it's behind/under the glove box. ?

What are the difference between the two of them? I am referring to the one that goes across the front of your car where the front suspension mounts. IDK its name.

1- The dealer is correct. The fuel filter in in the gas tank. You can access it by removing the rear seat cushion.

2- The dealer is correct. 2002 models were the first to have in cabin air filters.

A strut tower bar is under the hood, the ends are bolted to the top of the strut towers. It is a rigid bar that prevents the strut towers from flexing on rough roads.

The sway bar is mounted underneath the car. The ends are connected to the LCAs (Lower Control Arm) via links. The sway bar is a spring that attemps to keep the car level when in a turn.

Nissan claims the fuel filter is lifetime. I have seen pictures of people who have changed them and they looked dirty.on the cabin filter thing i put cabin filter ( 2 pieces) on mine. No wonder there was none there but the whole for them still there under the glove box.

For the rear doors, I'm replacing the 6.5" speakers. My aftermarket ones that I purchased don't fit so I have to remove the white adapter. Anyone know of any good speaker adapters that will fit well in the rear doors?

I use eBay MDF rings. I'll get you the link when I'm at a computer.

Just bought an 03 Maxima SE and i really need some help with this car it is my first nissan. Ive owned hondas and acuras and they have websites like hondaautomotiveparts.com that sells every single clip and bolt on your car basically at a discounted price (no need to go to your local dealer). I don't even care if the price is discounted but I'm looking for a nissan website that i can buy these parts for example my lower engine cover is hanging and i want to buy the clips for it, do you guys know of a website like this? I live in NJ but obviously if its an online parts site then it doesn't have to be local. Thanks and i will ask many questions some dumb so have some patience with me guys.
