I had one recently that wasn't stripped but for some reason was 1000X tighter than anyone I've ever had to deal with, I broke 1/2" drive craftsmen breaker bar and ratchets, I had to get a 3/4" socket in the size of the axle nut, and using the 3/4" drive I got it loose (using my 4 foot jack handle for leverage of course). I'd try that before cutting it. Regardless, you may find you'll need to replace the axle.

I think he knows that and means for his 2k.

Depends how you define better, yeah, I think there is no way in hell you could do any kind of retrofit that would look anywhere near as cool as the 2k3/2k3 headlights.

Common problem. Allthough you only have a code for one bank, I would have someone with a scanner check your long-term fuel trims, if they are both really far of (well clearly one is >25% iirc) than it is more than likely a maf issue, purchase and replace maf yourself and have the reflash done at the dealer. Also, if you have the person or shop with the scanner also tell you the tps %, engine rpm, and maf reading that is stored in the freeze frame data than we can copnfirm, but we almost don't need to

IMHO, you should go ahead and get aftermarket springs that are stiffer but don't have a drop, the ride difference with stiffer springs at same height is definitly improved without any drawbacks for the most part. I have a feeling that if you measure it after replacing just the struts that it would still be off, but don't hold me to that, no personal experience there, just my educated geuss. Also, I'm assuming you also remembered to bounce the car up and down etc etc and folllowed the instructions in the fsm, that's ill

Possible I suppose, it's on the dash near the defrost vents, make sure nothing is covering it, also inspect maybe you snipped or pinched a wire.

Rattling noise at 1,700 rpm and AC problem

Hi - new here..just bought a 2002 SE w/ 98k miles. Unfortunately when i test drove the car I didn't see these 2 issues.

1. When driving I started hearing an intermittent rattle. It is also constantly present if I'm taking a hard left turn. So I parked the car and revved up slowly. The rattling is pretty constant and loud at about 1,700 rpm. I can't really tell where its coming from - hopefully not the engine but rather a pulley (ps pump or AC compressor maybe) - ANY IDEAS??

2. The car has the auto climate control. If I turn the AC on to say 70 degrees, there is no cold air. To start cold air, I have to turn to auto and set to 60 degrees which I guess kicks on the compressor - only then can I adjust the temp up and still have cold air. AGAIN - ANY THOUGHTS? tHANKS

ya i saw that... its a little too chunky for my taste and incorporates too much detail... i like to keep it simple.. but i still think it looks pretty nice.

As for your answer on the first question, it may be your heat sheilds on the exhaust.

As for your second question, I have no answer.

Hope that helps.

I took the engine cover off today, and saw the valve covers are plastic. I read somewhere the '02-'03 were aluminum, so does that mean mine were changed recently to the '04 plastic ones, or were they plastic even in '02?? Not sure if the info I read was right...

Well, i got it off yesterday. There are no threads left on the axle at all. I have no idea what could have done that but the axle needs to be replaced now.

Thanks for the feedback...when you say heat shields, how would they produce a constant loud tapping sound when there's nothing really mechanical or moving there...the sound definitely seem much more like a hardcore mechanical tapping sound (think of machine gun fire) which leads me to think its some kind of pulley etc...

I have a 2003 Maxima Se 6 speed TE. The car runs great it has 80,000 miles on it a no major problems. I have only had it a little over a month but have noticed it has 2 minor issues.
1. If am cruise down the road 2K-3500 rpm and floor the throttle there is like a 1 second delay then the car takes off like a rocket. (I am thinking this is due to electronic throttle)?
2. When cruise down the road 2-3500K 30-40 mph if I give the car half throttle or more then let off gas pedal I fill the car kind of shruge two times? It feels like the motor is moving like a broken motor mount. But feels solid as a rock when I stomp do on the gas pedal when I hotrod the car.

There are a couple of things you can do. One is the throttle reset procedure. And the other is a TSB. I would do the throttle reset first, and take it from there.

Throttle reset:

TSB:

so kyle00's stats were off then......

idk about the top speeds because the fastest i've gone in my 2k2 6mt is 120...and it still wanted to climb higher, only at that point i got really paranoid about cops and slowed down...

Thanks for the quick reply, but thats not exactly what I'm looking for...I've got a canadian car so I've got day time running lights. I'd like to be able to run with just the fogs and DTRL's if possible.

I'm assuming all I need to do is connect the wire that, in the standard mod is normally connected to the parking lights to any +12v ignition switched source...am i right?

I have an 03 maxima SE te and it has a compass in the mirror so I would say the wiring harness is their you just need a mirror.

I have a jwt popcharger...wanna make it a shortram by getting a midpipe. I was looking at frankencar and they sell the midpipe for $80. Would it bolt up to my popcharger? I sent them numerous emails..no response.

Would a berk midpipe bolt up also?

It doesn’t need to bolt up to anything. Just add the midpipe in between the MAF and TB, 2 hose clamps/and couplers to get it to work.

You may need to get a little creative when looking to mount it to the body. It wont be much shorter, it will only eliminate the stock resonator and be a lot louder.

I know I wont be able to use the clamp that came with the JWT b/c the midpipe would push the popcharger out a lot more. Im sure the midpipe would come with a clamp so that should mount it to the body no? Ah well I'll buy it and come up with something. thanks

I used the JWT bracket. Takes some elbow grease, but it works. Also, IIRC my midpipe is cut about 2".
