Works only on donut spares, but check it out anyway.
That's pretty slick! I could have definitely used that when I did have the donut spare. My full size keeps it pretty level tho

Anyways just for ppls future reference i want let everyone know the silver rear part of the control arm must be on the correct arm, the left and right are different, dont mix them up like i did. I couldnt bolt the arms on to the car and spent much time figuring it out but the removing of the bushings and swapping them around wasnt too bad. Lesson learned.

I had mine all apart and realized the same thing. I just went on Bing and image searched a stock CA and compared them that way

This thread is the best. Every question I had from choosing what parts, to installing them was answered here. djfrestyle, you have been rocking these suspension threads for years. You came up more than once having answered a thread, in my research. Thank you man, you are quite helpful and an asset to maxima.org.

Yesterday I put on Illuminas, H-techs, control arms, tie rod ends, stab. links. Feels like a new car, the ride is perfect. Only question I had was cutting the bumpstops. The top ring is larger so it snaps into the upper spring seat. If you cut that ring off the dustboot slides down the shaft. I went ahead and cut it since that's what everyone suggests. Is that going to be ok or will it damage the boot from moving or allowing dirt in? My original boots were a stack of rings at the bottom like I have seen described here, and shocks were leaking.

Happy to help. All I ask is that local org members come to me for install, and both local and non-local members purchase my awesome spare tire cover from me

Your boot will be fine. Ideally it would be nice to maintain the locking functionality, but bottoming out needs to be remediated.

Clicking when turning wheel on Ksport's. Bottom spring isolators were worn, swapped them before throwing them on. Greased everything up with white lithium grease, including the pillowball mounts. Why you no stop clicking Ksport's?

I got my d2 coilovers in and the ride feels very controlled until i hit a dip in the highway i go a little airborne in the rear. Is this a problem or just the way they are? I have 0 preload and i left them at 27" fender to ground in the rear almost stock height. I set them to 15 from soft to hard. Any suggestion

Since ksport and d2 are made by the same manufacturer, he's going to give you the same useless response more than likely.

There is a video that I followed for preload I on YouTube for D2. They say 4mm from snug, about the width of the spanner wrench. I had issues with 0mm (hand tightened snug) and had similar issues. Found that video, felt better and more controlled afterwards. Not perfect, but better. Can't say I've been airborne though.

Agree. You need a bit of preload.

Thinking about my winter setup. My stock springs and i need struts so kyb gr2's or monroes?

what do think about h&r front springs and the oem rears as my winter setup. Is that ok? Theyll be on new struts and i dont wanna blow the new struts. Looking for a comfy ride in the winter.

OEM springs on Monroe's or KYB, doesn't really matter.

If you absolutely must get H&R's, then run all 4, and run them on GR-2's.

Hey buddy, i got a question. When i installed my control arms with es bushings all was good and recently i had a squeaking after a rain storm, i pinpointed it down to the 27mm nut that holds pin to the arm. I greased it up and put it back all good for 2 weeks. Now its squeaking again really loud same bolt i can feel it creaking when i hold it when my buddy presses up and down on the car. Whats wrong with this bolt or what is the proper tightening procedure? Or is it too tight? Or diff type of grease??

Are you sure you installed the large washers that came with the bushings?

Yes i have 2 gold washers on that bushing one before and one after. You think i should add more washers to it like another before and another after to make it tighter?

What about the original triangular washer? that should be there too. The bushings should be greased, not the nut. The nut should be very tight.

I dont have that washer on but i did keep it. It goes before the nut right? Will that affect my alignment?

Washer - bushing - bushing - washer - triangle washer - nut.

Shouldn't affect alignment.

here's my problem

So my suspension has been making a good bit of noise lately and this seems to be the right place to talk about it. So the noise in the suspension is only on bumps and has a "squeak" and "clunk" sound. At speeds over 70 mph the steering wheel has some movement and can feel spongy if you know what I mean. Also lately there has been a noise coming from what I think my be the struts, and it happens when I go over rough parts in the road but does not make noise all the time. For the most part however, my ride quality is still pretty good, just noisy. Also my tires are pretty bald but those are getting replaced this week. I don't know if that would have anything to do with this problem, i just thought I would mention it just in case. Thanks for the help!

Hard to tell from your description. Could very well be your struts. Or motor mount(s). Or strut mounts...or control arms. Or a combination of the above.

Suspension is only very loosely connected to steering. If you experience loose steering have your tie rod ends checked out.

Not sure what you mean by "steering wheel movement over 70mph" - this could be unbalanced tires, or a bent wheel.

The small outer lip of that bushing
came off the front part

Rear part still has the lip
Name: 20130902_111347.jpg

Size: 134.3 KB

Gold washer in front now touches the metal

Size: 99.7 KB
Name: 20130902_111405.jpg
Views: 188
Size: 117.4 KB

I put the triangle washer like u said to
Name: 20130902_111634.jpg
Views: 188
Size: 150.0 KB

The same bushing on the (opposite)driver side of the car has both lips and doesnt creak.
Is this the source of my problem creaking? Is that ok and normal? what should i do if creaking returns?

So...is the creaking gone with the triangular washer? You never confirmed.

If so, then you answered your own question, no?

Where did the lip of the bushing go? Did it break off? Did it get worn down? Maybe it just got pushed in...
I've never seen this before. It's hard to believe/understand because poly is fairly tough.

If the creak is gone, then problem solved. If it's still there, you need a new bushing, or, your current bushing needs to be adjusted/popped back out.

The outer lip got sliced off clean. It seems the washer pressing against it sliced it off, funny. I just put the triangle washer today so ill see if it starts again usually takes a rain storm or two to start creaking again.

How can i get just this one bushing?

Ok its been 2 weeks so far so good with the bushing no creaking.

I have a little dilemma with my friends 02 Maxima. He had a creaking while turning noise months ago and it went away and now its back, seriously cant figure this out. Comes and goes. Heres a detailed video, driver side.

If i jack it up and turn the wheel the noise goes away so i guess when the weight is on it, it makes the noise.

P.s. looks greasy cause i sprayed everything down with WD-40 but it didnt do anything.

Do you get the noise when you turn the wheels while stationary or does the vehicle have to be moving?

Hi everyone I'm at wit ends the problem is that from time to time my shocks feel blown then randomly it doesn't (not motor mounts) at other times its uncomfortably stiff ,and for some weird reason when it's stiff it is because the bumpstops have no room for play example the bump stop touches the shock and the top hat at the same type these are kybs btw with about an inch drop lowering spring i cut the bumpstops when i first figured out thats what was causing the stiff ride now its happening again even after i cut about an inch off

video is private, I can't see it.

WD isn't the best. I'd use silicone spray for lubrication or White lithium grease if you don't mind a white-ish film on the item.

Dealer. $14.

Or get a Moog mount ($45) - it comes with a bearing.

Yea most likely...assuming the assembly is actually put together properly and the spring is not binding.
