I replaced my corner light bulb (1157) by an 1157 Sylvania Silverstar. I thought It will be as white as my headlight silverstar but it's some kind of dark yellow dirty look. Is there any way to lighten/whiten the corner light?

Bump.

Anyone tried to equip this to your 93 SE as fogs? http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...vice=151181690 How?

What low price fog light can I buy (prefereably rectangular and clear lens) to replace the OEM?

i didnt think WarpSpeed made full exhaust for 3rd gens Mandrel Exhaust Systems makes piping for under $200, and you just need a resonator and muffler. me, James, and Cmax got the piping on a group deal but you can buy it still from Mandrel Exhaust Systems

First off Hey! to everyone on this board. I am glad to be on here and especially to own a Maxima.

Ok I have a 1991 Nissan Maxima SE 5spd. Can anyone tell me if this trim model had a coolant overflow bottle? Reason being is that i went to the Junkyard to purchase one but all i found where GXEs and the bottle goes on the passenger side next to the fender but on that location if im not mistaking ABS lines.

This looks to be only when there equipped with 4 wheels disc brakes. I did found 2 SEs but one did not have the front end and the other did not have the bottle nor did it have the small hose that goes into the overflow bottle and mine does have the hose for the bottle???

On the ones with ABS, the tank will be located on the driver side by the battery.

Stargate, my bad, looks like there is a full exhaust. double check that its still available though

91SE, only non-ABS GXE had drum brakes in the rear. so the JY ones were non-ABS models. if you have ABS (passenger side) the coolant overflow will be on the drivers side. if you dont have ABS, its on the passenger side where the ABS unit would be

yea i sent an email to dallas hopefully i will hear back within a few days. Its the next thing im doing so i am hoping they still carry it.

Also do cold air intakes give you much of a performance boost to make them worth getting or is it more for show? i know how they work in theory but never actually had one and dont really care if it looks hot more for the performance aspect of it. sorry if its dumb question

Oh ok. Well then definitely there is no coolant overflow bottle at all on the drivers side. Unless its hidden somewhere that i do not know of.

Where exactly should the overflow bottle be?

should be right by the radiator and battery. cant see why theyre not there unless someone has a fetish for 3rd gen overflows at the junkyard there

heres a old shot of my engine bay, i had ABS (but disengaged it) so my overflow was where it should be on ABS models

I do appreciate the help chrome. And that picture really helps out alot.

Apparently at my local JY they do have a big time fetish for overflow bottles.

Now all i have to do is search for a good set of fog lights since the ones on my maxima where cracked badly. I have looked on ebay for replacements but no luck.

that Autozone link just 404's

only way to get a lighter corner light is to get a lighter bulb from a store or Ebay. pay attention to the Kelvin colour rating. the bulbs you got are probably around 3500

Here's the link again. The bulb I bought is a Sylvania Silverstar and according to their chart, it has ~4000K. My headlight is a silverstar too but the headlights and corners are not even close in brightness. The corners kinda keeps up with the headlight's brightness when the signal is on. I'm not sure if clear corners will make it brighter though.

Anyway, here's the complete link again. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc..._&sortType=low
I want to change my fogs because they aren't working and the driver's fog has a broken lens. I checked this fogs at autozone but they have a different socket and it comes with a set of wires and new switch. I want to keep the original fog switch.

yea chrome91 you were right, Warpspeed only sells the ypipe & cat for the 1991 or 3rd gens now. They said pacesetter quit making the cat backs. Guess I will get the cat and ypipe and come up with the rest elsewhere^^ The Stock one on there is rusted to hell lol

So i am online looking for a set of lowering springs or coilovers sleeves. I only found the ksport and the sprint blues but, there a 2inch drop.

Does anybody here a pic of how the ride stance is on those 2 springs? would the 95-99 nissan maxima coilover sleeves fit the 91 maximas?

you can just get this tubing

http://www.mandrelexhaustsystems.com...ima/Categories

and all you need is a resonator (search what size, i cant remember) and whatever muffler of your choice.

not sure about a cat converter though, best to ask Cmax because he set the whole exhaust group deal up. i ran my setup with no cat converter (they dont care what you do to your car here lol)

this is with Ksport GT 2.0/2.2" springs and KYB GR2 struts. i dont think 4th gen part will work, and you cant use coilovers on 3rd gens without major major modding. the suspension travel is too short

its up to you if you want to go this low, you have to watch your oil pan. mine was only a few inches off the ground, same with my muffler it was only a few inches from the ground. these pics are old and before the springs settled, probably got about a inch lower. front tires were a quarter inch into the fender and the rears were a little into it

after they settled a bit, front was loooow

cheap ones do barely anything, i had a $12 one and you could bend it with a pair of plyers so it probably did crap all. Stillen one would be better

if i had to do it again i would make a skidplate, or something at least to shield the oil pan

if you go that low, youre gonna feel about every bump and you have to take speedbumps at a angle and extremely slowly or else you'll scrape

for FWD that thing still handled really good, i took it to a touge style track and going ~110km/h there was little bodyroll, and you could grip a corner pretty well

now im starting to miss the 3rd gen although i got to drive a automatic VE at work today

1990 maxima se positive battery cable replacement

so I got a 90 se for fun project car for $400 and have got it running for about $200 so far but I need a new set of battery cables for her as they are shot! And from nissan the positive cable is $87.99 and the negative is $64.99(plus tax btw) so that is $152.98 plus tax just for a set of battery cables?... and I noticed that generic cables at auto part stores are around $15 a piece , but there are other wires on the positive cable, so is there a good way for me to use the cheaper cables and not have to spend $200 with tax? if so please be as detailed as possible. Thank you for your time.

yep; get the cheap ones from wherever, there are some that have an extra wire coming off the terminal like this:

also try to find some splicing tape (like electrical tape, but 1000x better)
clip the end off the old, two wire ends, close to the terminal. strip the end off, crimp the ends on, wrap with splicing tape to ensure it's water-tight.

small question... for air filters, dont really want a CAI right now, but ive seen K&N offers a drop in filter for the stock box thats "High flow" cotton gauze... my question is has anyone used these and if so is there a real difference vs the cheap fram filterS?

i do.
differences: more expensive, less filtration, noisier (more intake sound), gets nasty easier, and is more expensive.
oh, and you need a second filter while cleaning the k&n, as 99% of people here daily their Maxima, and the 1% who don't have cone filters, anyway...

only reason i ask is most ive seen/talked too says cold air intakes offer almost no real performance gain other then a nice sound...dont care to pay for a sound and not worth the time to rip out stock assembly for 1-2 hp :/

oh well thought id ask. thanks
