noise comes from top of engine(under valve covers), on the belt side.
other stuff, I will defer to someone with ve(30de) experience.

mmm, could be, but chains don't have a tendency to wear out(like a belt). I would suspect that if the chains are the noise problem, it would be the tensioner before the chains themselves.

no.
most people grab some plywood or mdf or some such board and make "adapter" plates.
worked so far for my 6.5's up front.

Ok, I'm posting this up here because I want a quick answer. I removed my power antenna, bought some antenna assembly from auto zone (a solid antenna, not another power one) but the antenna I have is too tall. A friend of mine gave me his s2000 antenna from his s2000, but I can't get it to fit on there. The screw is too short. Anyone have any ideas how how I would go about getting it connected? If pictures are needed to explain my set-up better, then I'll make a new thread. Thanks.

hey my 6.5 that installed in the font did not need any mod except a bypass and I just screwed in the speakers to the stock speaker box and it worked perfectly

turbooos

alright i know there are tons of turbo write ups and discussions on the .org i've searched and read through a few of them and didnt find all the info i was looking for. so i went looking around on other forums and here's what i found http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=104858 and here's my very simple and bold in a nutshell look at it. Z31's have the VG30ET, awesome engine, can run 300HP no problem with bolt ons. only major diff other than Z31's being RWD is that the engine is mounted 90* from that of a maixima. So using a modified Z31 manifold and some new tubing to adjust for the 90* placement issue and all the rest of the hard, finnicky custom expensive work. theoretically you can pump out just as much power as any Z31? that being if you have a VG30E in your max.

easiest way to tell is if it has a distributor, its a sohc
you seem to think that a dohc means it has two cams, but it has four cams, two for each head. each cam has a corresponding gear. if you have one gear per head, its a sohc (vg30e). two gears/head, its a dohc(ve30de)

nice, thanks man, i was completely confused, i have the vg30e then, because i have one gear per head and a distrubitor. thanks again. any idea what would cause a miss? all plugs are perfectly clean and properly colored. i took the mass air off and gonna clean that and i guess the idle air im gonna clean too. but is there any real common problems? i am ruling out injectors for now only because no funny spark plug colors or anything

This is a vg30e (sohc) engine.

This is the VE30DE engine (this one is painted up nicely, but you get the picture so to speak lol)

No problem

Btw, your missing issue is most likely a bad injector, to verify this, pull the injector harness plugs off each injector, then put on ohm meter on each terminal. A good injector will read between 11-14 ohms, usually a bad injector will read nothing or infinite(pegged out).

good luck.

it sounds to me like you only got the antenna mast from your friend not the whole thing.
getting the whole thing would make it much easier since there is variation in the mast threading between cars.

i took out the old bose speaker and then drilled the new 6.5on the box to the hole as in puttin the speaker in front of the box and sticking the end threw the hole. just un screw everything on the back and remove the speaker and amp and do a rewire, then drill in the new one and your set, but there is a small gap at the dashboard end (the door panel) because of the new speaker sticks out alittle

Either brand would be a good replacement, but you would probably get the magnaflow unit quicker, as warpspeed is not known for quick shipping.

Yeeep, all I got was the mast. The thread will fit, the problem is that the screw is too small length wise to fit. Would the whole antenna assembly even fit or work with our cars?

But it won't fit my budget; found a whole S2k antenna assembly for 90 bucks on ebay. I think I'm going to have to jerry rig this one. I know I said I would make a post yesterday, but things got complicated. I'll get pics today and make a new thread.

I am planning on buying an ebay Knock Sensor for my car, but I have a question.

The only one I found that specifically stated that it was for a '90 Max looked different than the rest of them. I just want to make sure I get the right part.

Are the KS's from the 90's different than the later year parts? Is this the wrong part?

^^This is the pic for the part listed as a '90

^^This is for 92+

Just want this sorted out before I drop the cash. Thanks in advance.

It's not that they are different from year models, it's that they are different from engine types..The first picture is for the vg30e engine, which is in all 89-91 3rd gen maximas, SE or GXE models. The second picture is the k/s for the 92-94 VE30DE dual overhead cam engine, this engine is only in the 92-94 SE maximas, the gxe maxima continued on with the vg30e engine through to 94. So if you have a 90 model maxima, the first picture is the right k/s sensor. you have a 90 model right?

Yes, it's a 90. It's definitely the SOHC engine. So that first sensor is the correct one then, yes?

If you wanna turbo your vg try and find some Z parts in the 'yard like the manifold and as for clutches+kits there's tons out there just give a search

turboing the VG is a bit tougher than grabbing Z31 manifolds.

So I've been driving my car around with no speedometer for like a month now. I looked at this picture: http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...r/IMG_0013.jpg and there are two wires coming from the black thing, one is loose, one is attached to it. I'm not so sure what I'm supposed to do, the loose wire ran to this sensor looking thing, and everything was plugged in, the other part I dont know where because I would have to get under the car.

Can anyone tell me specifically, what I should be looking for??
