You can try to regrease it, but I wouldn't use WD40, try white lithium grease. The fan motor will ultimately fail though as it sounds like the bearings on the fan motor are on the way out. I had to replace mine. The fan motor is about $120 and it very easy to change out yourself. Do not go OEM as the price is almost twice that amount.

 

He also needs a MAF sensor as well since the RPM's won't go over 2K at times.

I think the ABS sensor has its own light. I remember damaging my ABS line and the ABS light popped up, or the brake light. But, then again, I don't have TCS on my Max.

 

on the MAF part. Also, if the wheel sensor is in working order, BUT senses slip, it will light w/o the ABS light, so on that too. I must have been drinking last night.

what factors affect cruise control? im a 6-speed and my cruise control doesnt work. the front right ABS sensor isnt working and is tripping the ABS light and i am under the impression that is why the cruise control doesnt work. would that cause the cruise control to not work?

Just bought a 2000 max and ran into a little problem. When driving, my hazards sometime turn on for no apparent reason. sometimes it will happen and other nights it will not happen. I first had it happen to me and it lasted just a split second. lately, I will be driving and they will turn on then off and on and off then on for a little bit then finally turn off. I have no idea what it could be. Relay? Fuse? Input would be great appreciate.

 

are the 00-01 bumpers really different than the 02-03 bumpers? im looking for a stillen lip wondering if one made for the 00 will fit my 02

Yes. Change out the MAF and monitor your MPG. It should be more consistent after a MAF change.

 

i dont think the abs light will effect the cruise control. My abs light has been on for 6 months or so and the CC still works. However my light came on for the right rear sensor. The circuit is open. I'd say the two are unrelated.

 

Hey guys I'm new to this forum. I recently purchased a 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE about a month ago and I'm happy to say that it's an all around great car. I do have one question though since I'm not into specifics of cars as much as others. I want to change my headlight bulbs but I'm not quite sure which type I'm supposed to get. I assumed it was the H4. If I'm wrong It'd be great if someone could help me out. Thanks.

I have a 2000 maxima and last week i noticed it start to idle a little high (1000-1250) when not in gear. Over the weekend it started to rev itself when not in gear from like 1000 up 1500 then back down and just kept repeating about every 2 sec..... I plan on taking it into a shop because im not very good with cars but I just want a guess at what the problem is so I dont get ripped off....

The car has 63000 miles on it... I recently replaced....

i'm pretty sure that you're ABS faulting has nothing to do with cruise control...the cruise control could simply be a faulty wiring job, but i'm not 100% sure

 

Sounds like an IACV issue. Got a SES light? if so, my guess would be P0505

Since my car is a 00' and the headlight bulb type listed is 9003, I guess it's safe to say H4 bulbs fit in. Thanks kgallerie

 

1) when i turn the dials for turning on the ac or heat the fan doesnt turn on. All positions it stays off. It just happened all of a sudden really, before that it was working perfectly. Anyone know what could be wrong?

2) My left side steering wheel controls dont work. The volume, and all the ones on the left side of the steering wheel dont work, i have an aftermarket head unit so i dont expect the volume to work, but id like the mode thing to work so i could see the mpg and dte etc. The right side (cruise control) works perfectly. Anyone know what could be wrong here?

 

Hey guys...

I can't find any rear window switches for sale on the web... anywhere! The junkyards around here don't have any either. Anyone know where I can order two?

History: my rear windows (both sides) increasingly began not to roll up. When I took the car in for a rotation/balance and to have the rotors turned, I asked the shop to take a look. They rolled the window 1/2 down, then told me it was indeed broken. (Brilliant!!) They also told me it was probably a regulator and would cost $400 to fix. After trusting they knew what they were doing (another mistake) and purchasing 2 new regulators for both rear windows, I took the door panel off only to find the regulators working perfectly. I recently tested both rear switches. One works perfectly and the other is very spastic (not rolling up well). Both switches performed exactly the same on 2 different motors, so I assume the issue is with the switches.

So, the short of it, I need 2 new window switches. Unfortunately, I cannot find where to buy them. Any suggestions?!

Hmm...I wonder if that is part of the fuel cutoff TSB. There is one out for the 2k and 2k1 manual maximas. Check that out, if it falls under that then it should be under a warranty I would think.

QUESTION: ive got HID's in my 2k, i want to go with the 5.5th gen headlights i know it fits but are the bulbs different therefore i have to do different HID's???

 

you have to get ds2 bulbs... they aready have HID's... you just have to change the bulb.... you current HID kit will then be useless

 

Check the fuse for the blower motor first.

You should be able to find it in the FAQ thread, but there is a wire near the HU (brown, I believe) that you have to ground to get the trip computer to work. There is also a wiring adapter that will allow you to retain the use of the steering wheel controls.

 

if you buy 02-03 HIDs, they come with everything you need including the bulbs

 

Yeah. It was a little weird replacing my HID bulbs last week. It can be kind of a pain since there's little space.

BTW if you need to buy some cheap D2R HID bulbs I got mine from this guy on ebay for $30 shipped. And before others bash me about cheap HID bulbs I bought some from this same guy for my old car and they lasted almost 2 years before I took them out and got new housings. They also heat up fast and don't change color.

 

About how much horse would I gain on a 2000 max with high quality headers and full exhuast?

I'm not a noob, but I have a noob question for those that have 2k2/2k3 or have done the 2k2 HID swap onto a 5th gen and I don't need to start a new thread for it.

In the fuse box by the battery and the air filter, do you guys have fuses in the drivers side and passengers side headlight sockets....I think they are 20A fuses.
