WOW...
they are saying a whole bunch of BS... the whole reason why not everyone does it is because the consult machine itself is like a 1000 dollars, but a monkey can do it himself, its very very simple and it would take less than 4 minutes i swear, so go check another dealership or a mechanic that has the machine.

good luck and dont even pay above 50 for it except if u want too lol

Take whatever car you are interested in, and take it to a reputable mechanic to have them look over it before purchasing. Test drive it.

The projectors are sh!tty and the light pattern coming from them sucks and the headlights look cheap and riced out. But hey your money spend it how you want it.

Look in your owners manual under maintenance. You should have flushed the trans fluid by now, if you haven't, I'de do that. Replace the plugs.......

Noob question. I've got a 2002 Maxima and I tried replacing the rear struts. As I tried to remove the lower mounting bolt I realized that the nut was spinning with the bolt. There isn't any access to the nut though because of the shield behind the rotor. Is there a trick to this? Will I be able to access the nut by removing the shield or am I overcomplicating it?

Odd. I don't remember mine ever spinning. I thought the nut was welded on.....I don't remember. Anyhow, you may have to remove the shield to double wrench it. I would look back there and make sure the 'nut' is seated properly and not broken.

Thanks for the response. I was suspecting that the nut was supposed to be held in place but it broke free. My hope is that I do have access after I remove the shield.

Indeed, the nut should have a tab on it, or it should be in a hex shaped hole to hold the nut in place (haven't touched that area in a while).

Hey all. Im new hear and just bought my 2001 maxima se about 2 months ago. Wondering if i could possibly get some insight on a problem i am having. And for the record..the dealership i bought it from is just horrible. My mistake but i have wanted a maxima for a long long time and since i work off the books and have no co signer..i had no choice but to go with a lone shark.
The problem is after i fuel it up..it doesnt want to start. Take about 2 cranks..and the second crank starts it but very hard. Now..i brought it back to the dealer and they said it was Fuel Pressure Regulator. So they switched it out (and charged me full price heh). Turns out that wasnt the problem. So i called them back 2 days after i got it replaced and told em about this problem. Now there saying vapor lock wich they pointed out is a 10 hour fix. But i get confused because it only happens after fueling. Never stalls any other time. My personal mechanic told me to leave the gas cap off when i start it. But it still does it. And the gas cap being open allows the ventalation needes to prevent the vapor from escaping. So im clueless..and responces with ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance and sorry for such long post.

It would help if you actually said what part of the car we're looking at.

Is that the trailing arm?

Ah. It does help to say whether it's actually brake fluid, or if you think it's brake fluid. If you say specifically that it's something that it's not, it misleads diagnosis.

Also FWIW that isn't a brake hose, that's the parking brake cable along the trailing arms.

Does it not have any manufacturer or model number stamp either in the lugnut area or on the backside of the wheel?

My 03 does the same thing. The gas cap thing works, but, what I do is remove the key, and wait about 5-7 seconds, then start it again. Seems to work for me and my gas cap can stay on.

I'm having a problem with my 6cd Bose (2002 GLE). I've read the various posts which relate to my problem of the audio cutting out. I'd like to replace the old ribbon cable with a new one myself, but I can't find any info/links on where to find a replacement ribbon cable. Does anyone know where to get a replacement cable?

I still can't make a thread for some reason but. My tranny needs a rebuild(front diff bearing) . Its a 2000 maxima se tranny. I'm going to tackle it myself as I'm thinking I can do it. My question is what all will i need parts wise for doing this? Can you buy rebuild kits from the dealer?

Anybody done this and has a good write up on it, thanks

No 15 posts, no new thread.

Assuming 5 speed? Did you search around at all?

http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...te-up-pix.html

Several rebuild kit threads as well, just search for them.

Hehe. My hyundai had that problem. Mechanic told me it was just a bad make of the car..in other words had no idea what he was talking about i would assume. But then again...now we have maximas..wich is obviously better. Let me know if you find the problem.

I've searched around, I heard that 4th gen and 5th gen tranny's are different? No?

How about posting the actual code?
