You will have to look at the FCC stamp on module. Give me a bit and I will pull up the picture.

Look here:

http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...try-brain.html

The FCC ID that's on the pictured module needs to match the one on the keyfob.

2k max spark plug info

I have, to the best of my knowledge searched the 5th gen forums/threads regarding installing the rear 3 spark plugs. The threads I reviewed were from 2008 and older. Only vague info on the 2000 was found and any links were no longer accessible.
I am trying to sort out do I need to remove the intake manifold? and gasket? The plenum? and gasket? Do I need only to "loosen" the accelerator and cruise control cables?
If someone could steer me to a new site specific for the 2k or give me a basic outline to install these three that would be a big help. If I have missed a current thread my apologies. Please let me know how to find it.
Many thanks.

O2 Sensor blues;
I just replaced the bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor. The ses light came on early March and it took me until Friday, April 16 to get the correct sensor. Performance got worse by the day which included stalls when coming to a stop or slow down for traffic or lights, etc. The most problems would occur on the return portion of a 114 mile round trip excursion. The ride up was mostly uneventful. At my destination I would park the car anywhere from 1-2 hours then make the return trip. Here's where the choppy, bucking, non accelerating loss of power, stalling would be chronic. Now after replacing the sensor the results were tremendous until the next round trip. Again the trip up was actually wonderful with no hicups. The return trip awful.
After installing the sensor I disconnected the battery so the ses light would go out and it is still out despite the ill performance.
Do I need to replace the other 3 sensors?
Have I done damage to the cat?
Thanks all.

I just did mine on my 2000 max. No need to take apart anything. It took me 5 mins to change out all 3 rear plugs. All I did was unbolt the coil. Its one bolt just like the front. They pull staight up(for the most part as you have to finagle them a little get them out as there is stuff blocking the way to get them straight out but they will come out with out removing anything) Then do the normal remove the plug ,gap, and replace.

I also changed mine without removing anything other than the coil packs themselves to have access to the plugs. You just have to be handy maneuvering back there and careful not to drop anything. I used a combination of extensions and universal joint to do that. If you are replacing them with OEM spark plugs there is no need to gap them.

In case you're not aware, OEM doesn't necesarily mean "purchased from the dealer". I bought my NGK's (PFR5G-11) from Autozone and I didn't have to gap them.

I'm wanting to know how to post an iTrader for a fellow Org'er. I searched "iTrader how to" and other variations and didn't find an answer.

Under the user's name (on the left side of his post) click on the number in parenthesis after "iTrader:" and that will take you to the iTrader feedback area of that user. Once there, under the "Member Profile" column click on "Submit feedback for (user's name)" and submit your feedback.
You can try it on me, I won't get mad....

Thanks to efanatic and here. The back three are accessible without the removal of anything. Let's just point out a 12 inch extension is necessary. Which universal I don't know. In any case I'm much further along.
Thanks

Universal thanks

OK great. Do I use this with a 12 inch ext? Or is that too much? Can I get away without? I ask since I will have to buy these new tools. And, let us not forget the key word here; NOVICE.
Thanks

I didnt use a universal. I just used a few extentions. As for gaping the plugs the ones I got from napa were 1/2 of what nissan told me. So gapping was a good thing for me

Gapping Plugs

I have a new gapping tool but never bothered to check when I installed the 3 front plugs. Should I pull the three and check them?

If you bought the right plugs, probably not. In the many sets of plugs I've put in my Maximas, I never even check gap.

Don't flame me this is a really noob question! I bought an 8000K HID conversion kit for my '00 SE and I was wondering if anyone tried this. Do I need to change anything besides the standard ballast/wires/etc?

No. as long as you got the right conversion kit it should just be plug and play. Most likely will connect right up to the h4 plug. Hopefully you got bixenon or else your not gonna have a high beam.

Thanks. I was eyeing a set recently on the classified but someone got ahead of me and bought 'em the same morning the guy lowered his price...

I have 01 max. Trans is hard shifting from 2nd to 3rd and does not shift into 4th. already replaced solenoid valve assembly and tcm. Im under impression this code also comes up when the trans doesnt shift into 4th which is part of the problem. I was hoping the new solenoid valve assembly and tcm would fix but did not. Any ideas out there? Someone also said something might have to be reprogrammed, not sure if they meant the tcm or ecm. Does this sound familiar/

Newwwwwww here!

I've recently bought a 03 Maxima SE w/119k. I have a Pioneer AVH-P3200 In-Dash DVD, and just wondering if anyone knew about installing it and what all it entails. Also, if anyone knows of any recalls that I should see if they have been taken care of.

I just put a indash dvd player in mine a few weeks ago. I bought the new vent kit from nissan for the GXE model(its a double din opening) Other than that it was straight forward. The dvd player bolted right up to the stock stereo mounts. My dvd player came with some trim rings so I didnt have to buy any adapter plates to fill in around the radio. If you need to know how to pull apart the dash there is a youtube video how too. On my dvd/nav player I grounded out the parking brake wire so I can watch movies while I am driveing (the wife and kids are watching and Im driveing of course) I am getting ready to put screens in the back of the head rests to make it easier for the kids to watch. Cant wait. I saveing for the ne wscreeens that will fit) I like doing custom stuff!

Looking at the service manual, it seems it could be:

Possible Cause

Line pressure solenoid valve
Torque converter clutch solenoid valve
Each clutch
Hydraulic control circuit

Thanks. The first two where replaced with the whole solenoid assembly. I get the impression the second two mean a rebuild, am i right? Do you think a valve body rebuild or a "reprogram kit" would help these issues? I've also seen in some of the posts the mention of a new torque converter. Thinking about trying that considering a used trans is bout $1900.

Fuel guage broken?

Hey guys I searched around for an hour but I give up. I have a 2k3 maxima SE 6speed and the fuel guage goes UP and my DTE will say I have MORE fuel in the tank then I do.... sometimes. It seems to do this randomly and it will always show more fuel never less. What does this mean and how can i fix it?

2000 Max SE

SES Light persists, Checked w/ Amoco and a P 100 code MAF came up. I replaced MAF Fall 2009, SES came up in March for bank one sensor one O2 sensor, replaced that. SES came back on with the P 100. I'm at wits end. Amoco said they need 2 hrs @ $92/hr to properly diagnose problem. They don't want to jump to any quick conclusion and just throw a part in that won't cure real problem. I don't have $184+.
Car runs poorly, cuts out/stalls mostly after it warms up.
Any checks I can make?

I joined here about 10 years ago when I got my brand new 2001 SE and have not posted here in a long time. Great car and I've had good luck with it. I remember all of the great help and useful info shared here and now I have a question regarding the ABS. My light has come on, but my mechanic says the brakes are fine and he cannot get the light to reset and turn off. Obvously he is not a Nissan mechanic.

Is it possible or likely that the ABS brakes are ok, but the light won't go off? Could it be that the sensor is AFU? Would the light stay on if the sensor was defective? I am wondering if he just doesn't know how to fix them and he doesn;t want to say it.

If you believe the ABS are truly AFU, do you have any idea what it would cost to repair it properly?

Is it ok to drive the car with the ABS not working properly? Will that affect anything else.?

I am getting ready to finally selll the car at 150,000 miles and don't want to hose the new buyer by telling him something that is not correct.

TIA--Gregg

Your resistor pack needs to be replaced. I believe it's mounted on the fan housing behind your glove box. It will have a bunch of wires going into it.
