Take a look at rockauto.com They typically have great prices. A quick look looks like $175-$220. These are pretty easy to install as well.
Another alternative is Eastern Catalytic. I've had very good results with their catalytic converters.

Check - In

Just checking in as a new 2000 Max owner...

85K on a very cherry max; one owner who was an old lady and stored it in the garage for most of the last 11yrs.

All up and all in on the options and all service records. Very nice auto that I'll post later if allowed.

Look fwd to asking a few questions if all are ok with that.

I just bought a 2000 maxima, non-bose variety. I'm curious if there's any way to take advantage of the CD/CHG input for iPod/carPC usage. I guess I'm ok with getting an aftermarket radio, but I kinda like the stock look. I know the tuner is horrible, but I don't really listen to the radio much, except for news and amusing AM talk. If I could pipe Pandora in there, I'd be set.

Need more info. What do you want to do? What's your style? You can't just say "give me suggestions!" because everyone will give you a different answer.

Best power gains for the buck would be a 3" Cattman cat back or similar set up combined with a mid pipe right?

Went to Mid City nissan for 115K service today. Got the tune up, tranny flush, had a recall open for Crank Position sensor, got that replaced.

Found out the reason my pedal sinks is not cuz of air in the lines but instead because my master cylinder is giving out (will go out altogether eventually!).

Would you recommend any brand? Courtesyparts has it for $188, also found a Beck Arnley with fluid tank for $114 (shipping+tax not included).

I'm hoping to get a reply from classified section. If I don't, what do you guys suggest i purchase? The above two are just a sample....feel free to suggest otherwise. Thanks fellaz. Much appreciated.

PS: Jowo; thanks for your feedback and the link. It helped out a great deal. You and me both: hooked for Tein SS as soon as wallet fills up. lol

Preout voltage? Or amp turn on?

May I ask the background to your question? It will help us answer it better.

Also, I'm assuming you're inquiring about the Bose system, but please confirm.

Quick questions:
1. Got a new Brake Master Cylinder. Will be installing it tomorrow morning. What tool(s) will I need to get the job done? The Brake Master Cylinder shipped with clear tubes to bench bleed it prior to install. Already got the turkey baster to remove excess fluid from reservoir. What else?

2. What kinda tool to loosen/tighten bleeder screw on the calipers.

Also it says to exert a certain amount of pressure:

"Torque mounting nuts.
: 12 - 15 N·m (1.3 - 1.5 kg-m, 9 - 11 ft-lb)"

How do I do that? Or do you use a rule of thumb technique to ensure it's tight enough...

Thanks a ton guys...Really appreciate it.

I believe it's somewhere around 1.8-2.5v.

Why do you ask?

(If you're thinking about going aftermarket you can run a HU with any preout voltage you choose, including the Eclipse decks with 8v. In fact, the higher the better)

**Please PM all Responses** I posted a few weeks ago that I had a cat code p0429 pop up, I realized that I had overlooked a test pipe that replaced the rear cat. With this new knowledge I wanted to know if this could be the reason for my cat code. And if so, should I be concerned about the front cat being clogged or damage because of the test pipe? Also, would the test pipe cause the smell of a cat going bad (egg smell? It has only happened once)? How concerned should I be? PM me responses or if you need more detailed information of what's happening. Thnx.

I just picked up a 2000 Maxima and the clutch pedal sticks to the floor when I press it and I have to reach down to pull it up. Anyone have ideas, I was thinking the slave cylinder but I'm not 100% sure on that, is there a way to test it? I don't see it leaking but it was a little low on fluid and I topped it off with no change.

2002 Battery Fuse

Newbie here...I recenty changed my battery and now my radio does not work. First things first, I want to check the fuse...however, there is no "Battery" fuse listed on the fuse box. Can someone tell me which fuse controls the radio on a 2002 Nissan Maxima GLE?

Why would you look for a Battery fuse if only the radio doesn't work?

Look for the fuses labeled "Audio" - both under the hood, and under the steering wheel.

I would save the money and not get a boot kit, as that is what i have heard from a few mechanics, but I would replace all of them at the same time. I am looking to be replacing mine once i have enough for some coilovers.

I highly recommend replacing your dustboots. Use OEM, I prefer them over KYB and others. They're about $20-$25 each. You don't need any other hardware for a rear strut job except for the dustboots and the struts themselves.

The front and rear are completely separate procedure, but typically if you're replacing struts, you replace all 4.

Also, I do suspension installs for a LOT of local org members. I'd be happy to discuss any specific details or questions you have. Or if you're local to NJ, I could do the job for you. Sending you a PM now.

Disagree. Definitely replace your dustboots if you're replacing your struts. Especially if you have more than ~80k miles. Rear MOUNTS however, need not be replaced.

You don't need boots if you're getting coilovers, they come with them. Most also come with proprietary mounts all the way around.

Ok I have a unique problem.... My 01 GLE maxima will NOT go into Reverse but it WILL drive. It makes a little wine that I have never heard before in Natural... I put synthetic trans fluid in not to long ago.. what that my mistake?

Is there anybody on this forum that has a 5th gen that's been lowered with a stillen lip and rear valance (preferable with 2k2 side skirts) thats majestic blue and has painted their lip, rear valance and side skirts black?

I was thinking of doing this, but wanted to see how it looks like before I do it. Pictures would be great. Thanks!

I've seen it, looks good with the front lip painted - not so much the rear lip or side skirts. Looks even better with dark tints and dark wheels, and the rest of the car blacked out.

Wouldn't it look 'incomplete' if the side skirts or rear lip weren't the same colour as the front lip? That's the only thing that I'm worrying about

No I don't think so. It will look incomplete if your side skirts and rear lip are not painted to match the car. Front lip however - for whatever reason - does not look incomplete when not painted (depending on the color - black/unpainted lip looks good on a majestic blue)
