8th Gen transmission good?

Looking to pick up maybe a slightly used, 2 (ish) yr, Maxima soon..
Its between that and a 3 ish yr old Q50, or a 1 yr old Altima.

While there have been lots of complaints about the CVTs reliability elsewhere I rarely hear about these issues with the Maxima despite the Maximas having more powerful motors ( as a rule) then the Altimas.
There just dont seem to be many complaints about them with the Max..
How come?
Is there an internal difference?
Better cooling?

You guys have not had any unusual incidence of tranny issues compared to the rest fo the automotive world, correct?

Thanks for any input/thoughts even speculation on this issue...

Did you try searching in the forum at all? There are several threads about this. There are some owners that had problems and others that didn't. Speculation is if you treat it good it won't break. Its not a race car by any means even though it is ''sporty''. My SR been treating me well and I like to push it every once in a while. The 8th Gen Maxima CVTs seem to holding up pretty good as of late. The 8th Gen has the newest version of the CVT. It can handle more torque. As far as cooling goes I'm not sure about that.

You have to take into account the fact that there's an order of magnitude more Altimas than Maximas on the road, and this alone could account for the fact that you don't hear about problems with the Maxima CVTs nearly as much. Statistically, there's even fewer 8th gen Maximas with significant mileage--common sense says that the vast majority of all the 8th gens ever sold are still covered by the powertrain warranty. In other words, we won't be able to know if the 8th gen CVTs are as horribly unreliable as some Nissans for another several years.

Nearly all of those threads are asking something comepletely different than I did.
This is exactly what I mean by "thin".
The couple that did ask the same are years old , obviously we ought to more and better data now.

Hope your strawman reply to my sincere question made you feel empowerd

I'm sorry that I provided you with links on this forum that may or may not have answered your question, "8th Gen transmission good?"

My mistake, I wasn't aware you just wanted an Yes or a No answer.
